Iraq's 3rd Historic Election

victory1.gif

Another failed Bush policy. Another illegitimate election under an illegal occupation. Iraq is a quagmire. Iraqis want us out now. The imperialistic United States doesn’t have the right to force democracy on other countries.

*SLAP*

Enough Democratic talking points. Today Iraqis voted for a four-year parliament in the nation’s first democratically elected government. Voter turnout was so high that voting hours were extended. Violence was low while turnout was high. The Sunnis, who boycotted elections earlier in the year, turned out in droves to cast their votes as the urging of their leaders: "God will bless you with long life and prosperity if you vote! It is your duty!" Apparently they learned the lesson that isolation doesn’t put one in a good position to have influence and they don’t wish to repeat that mistake.

Anderson Cooper, CNN correspondent and anchorguy, interviewed an Iraqi woman in a polling place. Her enthusiasm for Democracy and thankfulness to President Bush and the United States seemed to not sit well with Mr. Cooper, but even his retort of, "Well, are you disappointed with anything about the election?" was met by dismissal by the young Iraqi woman who positively glowed with gratefulness for her newfound freedom. Remember, this is what voting in Iraq used to look like:

Meanwhile, CNN’s Christiane Amanpour reported that the "turnout seems to be high" in what appeared to be a despondent state of joylessness that even in Saddam’s hometown of Tikrit (of all places) the elections were a resounding success.

"The Iraqi people are showing the world that all people of all backgrounds want to be able to choose their own leaders and live in freedom," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said.  And showing all the world they are!  VIVA IRAQ!

Iraq is selecting its first parliament today. This is Iraq's first democratically-elected government. We are watching history in the making. Because of the large turnout, the Iraqi election commission extended voting for one hour, until 6 p.m., according to an AP report. The mood leading up to the election was

Three elections, already. It's absolutely amazing, and to have such a high Sunni turn-out?! Wow. I knew I could find something about it, here. :-)

Someone ought to collect all these negative reporting clips and force C-Span to run them at their next "Why aren't the people watching the MSM who know better than you?" shows.

I'd love to make Brian Lamb sit down and face the camera to admit why he doesn't think the left is biased.

Pam over at Right Politics is saying that the top 3 liberal blogs are silent on the elections. I guess the left's sour grapes know no limits.

Great news that Iraqi society is moving forward again. I'm proud to be a citizen of a country which played a supporting role to the wonderful US military, and thus helped Iraqis to enjoy freedom. I wish Iraq all the best for the future.
May I say Congratulations to Chrystal! Even though I don't know you, it's nice to hear your good news!

Princess, (soon to be "the Mrs"!), it was indeed an absolutely amazing day in Iraq. I cannot believe people still say we shouldn't have gone to Iraq or that it was wrong. Not just this, but can free elections occur in an occupied country? I don't think that's even possible.

PCD, ha! I am hoping to have time later to visit these Democratic blogs. CNN, MSNBC and everyoen but Fox has been downplaying the elections. Why? Because the liberal media lost today. In fact, the Democrats LOST another election today, but not in the US, but in Iraq.

Chrystal, I got rid of my tagboard. It was like a 5th child I had to babysit. I hope your curves results are all you hope, and CONGRATS on the baby! We have 4 as well, you probably know, and it's GREAT! I'd have 10 if I could. The more the merrier. Do you ever visit Becca? She has 4 children and homeschools. I admire that.

I homeschool my youngest son who is 7. His school this year, well, he had issues with it. It is VERY time consuming so I've had to put a lot of my life this year on hold, but I have to say it is so worth it. I might not be able to produce the kind of articles I want to on this blog, but the tiem spent with him and seeing him learn is a huge reward. So... I don't know how you do it with multiple children. Kudos to you. Blessings to your family this Christmas!

Detroit Patriotette (aka, Conservababe), thank you. I'm glad you liked it. I got a hoot out of watching CNN with Cooper and Annanpour. I laughed but also felt sick that these reporters looked mournful. How selfish must one be to be sad that people are gaining freedom? Where's the compassionate liberalism? It's appalling.

Sorry, this comment is off topic. I LOVE the new header graphic. Very professional, classy. Good job!

Thanks, Ben! I confess that when I went to your blog and saw your header I knew I needed to change mine for Christmas (almost said "the holidays"...ha!) Thanks for the compliment. Yours is beautiful.

PS.... I have to say that when watching CNN (I had to see how they would report it) and Cooper did his interview and Annanpour bore her sour face, I was sickened. The truth revealed in their lack of joy for Iraqis is this: they would rather HUMAN BEINGS suffer and be worse off to suit their political beliefs. How sickening. Liberals have been totally revealed and it isn't a pretty picture.

Crystal,

Congratulations! I know what a rush it is to have recognized weight loss. Tuesday, My Dr. showed me I've lost 13 pounds since my last visit. She said I don't know what you are doing, but keep doing it. And I AM!

The MSM's lead story yesterday was "Bush makes Deal with McCain About Torture Policy" [translation: We torture Iraqis, we are despicable tyrants]. It is unbelievable that on Iraq's biggest day in generations, after we have invested so much blood and treasure that the MSM makes "Americans Torture" their lead story. I'm with that lady in the video - they can go to, well, its Christmas so I won't say it. SHAME on them!
Viva Iraq!

Johnny, those people in the MSM are already in that place. They are sliding out of power and can't help dragging along anyone and anything they can.
December 17, 2005 | Unregistered CommenterPCD
Amy, you should read the liberal comments we're getting. I deleted most of them. One that I left is comparing the Vietnam elections (?) with Iraq's? Me must be stoopid cuz I don't get the connection. Sheesh.

They are bound and determined to see Dubya fail. They are going to be VERY disappointed. Thank God.

I did a lesson with my students on the Iraqi election. Students earned extra credit if they came to school with a purple finger on 12/15 and could explain its significance. I couldn't believe the number of ADULT teachers who didn't know what it was about! I sudder to think of it.

Love that video!!!! That little old woman has more balls, guts and courage then all the Democrats and so-called "Moderate" Republicans combined! Way to go!!!

We are all living in History-in-the-making. It's awesome!
