"We ARE Winning in Iraq"-President's Address to the Nation

bushadna.jpgPresident Bush addressed the nation Sunday night to defend and explain his position on Iraq. Here are some of what he had to say:

-It was right to remove Saddam Hussein from power. He was given an ultimatum - and he made his choice for war. And the result of that war was to rid the world of a murderous dictator who menaced his people, invaded his neighbors, and declared America to be his enemy. Saddam Hussein, captured and jailed, is still the same raging tyrant - only now without a throne. His power to harm a single man, woman, or child is gone forever. And the world is better for it.

-If you think the terrorists would become peaceful if only America would stop provoking them, then it might make sense to leave them alone.

-September 11th, 2001 required us to take every emerging threat to our country seriously, and it shattered the illusion that terrorists attack us only after we provoke them. On that day, we were not in Iraq, we were not in Afghanistan, but the terrorists attacked us anyway - and killed nearly 3,000 men, women, and children in our own country. My conviction comes down to this: We do not create terrorism by fighting the terrorists. We invite terrorism by ignoring them.

-Some look at the challenges in Iraq, and conclude that the war is lost, and not worth another dime or another day. I don’t believe that. Our military commanders do not believe that. Our troops in the field, who bear the burden and make the sacrifice, do not believe that America has lost. And not even the terrorists believe it. We know from their own communications that they feel a tightening noose - and fear the rise of a democratic Iraq.

-We are approaching a New Year, and there are certain things all Americans can expect to see. We will see more sacrifice - from our military, their families, and the Iraqi people.

- "God is not dead, nor [does] He sleep; the Wrong shall fail, the Right prevail, with peace on Earth, good-will to men."

He's taken on each and every one of the liberals' talking points. One by one he brought them up and took them apart piece by piece.

Amy, I thought the President's speech was terrific. The tone was right, the assessments were sober without sounding gloomy and he ended it in soaring fashion. I titled my article Sober, Strong, Soaring because that's the outline I got from the speech.

I just wish he'd made this type of speech starting 6-8 months ago instead of waiting for his ratings to drop.

Amy,

I hope your website will support Mel Gibson, a true Christian Patriot for Governor of California. You can visit his website at DraftMelGibson.com

Just watched GWB's press conference. Finally he "dressed down" a liberal reporter who asked, "----how long will this unchecked executive power go on?" or something to that effect.

I wonder if this little lib felt as small as he SHOULD have?

LOL

Mel Gibson would have my vote that's for sure!

I am so proud of President Bush, I am still a huge supporter and always will be. God bless our President!

Gary, there's no coincidence that the President's poll numbers are rising now that he's being aggressive and defending his positions. He should have done this back in his first term when he was trying to bridge the gap, make friends with the enemies, and believe that Democrats could be decent politicians. Boy, did he learn he was wrong!

This speech smacks of Reaganous Maximus! I am so proud of our commander in chief! Outstanding job. Its about time he starting really standing up to the misinformation about Iraq. 14 of 18 provinces are safe and secure. I've seen the blank stares on liberal dolt's faces when that is said. Now the administration has to go a step further and stop allowing the comments that WMD were never found from going unchecked and unchallanged. I think 500 tons of uranium in the hands of Sadam counts as WMD, don't you? (Again, another opportunity for blank stares from liberal dolts.) Enjoy! Merry Christmas, all!
