Ding Dong, the Wicked Witch is Dead

“I’m here for my 72 virgins.”

az.jpgCENTCOM reports Multi-National Force-Iraq Commanding General, GEN George W. Casey, Jr, made the announcement:

“Ladies and Gentlemen, Coalition forces killed al-Qaida terrorist leader Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi and one of his key lieutenants, spiritual advisor Sheik Abd-Al-Rahman, yesterday, June 7, at 6:15 p.m. in an air strike against an identified, isolated safe house.

Al-Zarqawi and al-Qaida in Iraq have conducted terrorist activities against the Iraqi people for years in attempts to undermine the Iraqi national government and Coalition efforts to rebuild and stabilize Iraq . He is known to be responsible for the deaths of thousands of Iraqis. Al-Zarqawi’s death is a significant blow to al-Qaida and another step toward defeating terrorism in Iraq.

“I think arguably over the last several years, no single person on this planet has had the blood of more innocent men, women and children on his hands than Zarqawi. He personified the dark, sadistic and medieval vision of the future of beheadings, suicide bombings and indiscriminant killings.”

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki says:

“Today, al-Zarqawi was eliminated. Those who disrupt the course of life, like al-Zarqawi, will have a tragic end.

“Whenever there is a new al-Zarqawi, we will kill him.

“This is a message for all those who embrace violence, killing and destruction to stop and to [retreat] before it’s too late. It is an open battle with all those who incite sectarianism.”

This could not have happened without the intellegence and tips of Iraqi citizens, who tipped off Al-Zarqawi’s location to US and Iraqi Forces.  The US and Iraq jointly pulled off the assault that killed Al-Zarqawi.

Enjoy hell, Al-Zarqawi: (al-Zarqawi doing the beheading in both images)

AmyP,

Between this and the foiled plot in Canada (not to mention the numerous foiled plots in America), how can one say the War on Terror isn't being won?

In terms of national security, I think this is the best overall scenario we could've asked for. Al-Zarqawi was too dangerous to be kept alive.
June 8, 2006 | Unregistered CommenterTrent
Trent, absolutely! It's been said that Al-Zarqawi is more significant, logistically speaking, than Osama bin Laden. We've eliminated the top terrorists and our worst enemies... watch out, bin Laden...

Amy... You got my hopes up. I thought Nancy Pelosi dropped dead. After all, she is the Wicked Witch of the West.

A great day for the people of Iraq! And a bad day for the MSM as another "freedom fighter" bites the dust.

Zarqawi wants to repent. His 72 virgins turned out to be transvestites.

HIP,HIP HOORAY!! We finally got him!! And the world sighs in relief!

This is truly a victory for the Coalition forces and the Iraqi people. I hope Zarqawi's death has a significant impact but I suspect the insurgents will carry on without him and sectarian violence will continue. Either way though, Osama bin Laden now has a pretty good idea of how he is going to die.
June 8, 2006 | Unregistered CommenterSilke
Silke,

That's got to be the best part for us and the worst part for him. He could die, literally, any moment. No troops storming in, no action movie spectacles, just the push of a button, the firing of a rocket and a big explosion.

It could happen anytime.

Psychological warfare.

On the other hand, I think there could be a lot of value in taking bin Laden alive. He's no less dangerous than al-Zarqawi was, but you'd think a live capture would greatly demoralize the terrorists.

I am celebrating BIGTIME and will not let the people stuck on stupid ruin it for me, but Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) is a bona fide IDIOT with his remarks above.

US ARMY ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, I'm not sure that's true. This is from Roy Schoeman, a Jewish convert to Catholicism who wrote "Salvation is from the Jews":

Consider the differences between the depiction of heaven in Islam versus that in Judaism and Christianity. Heaven, by definition, entails the greatest state of perfection that God can give man; it represents the ultimate meaning and goal of man’s existence. In both Judaism and Christianity, the bliss of heaven comes from the pure joy of being in God’s presence; in Islam, it comes from base sensual pleasures—food, drink and sex. Men in heaven are rewarded with 72 beautiful, ever-young virgin "wives", which the Koran describes as "bashful and dark-eyed" (Koran 37:48), "as fair as corals and rubies" (55:58), "loving companions" (56:37), and "high-bosomed virgins" (78:33). They also receive 28 "beardless young boys described as "boys of perpetual freshness; if thou seest them, thou wouldst think them as scattered pearls, dressed in silk and brocade, and embellished with bracelets of silver." (76:10-25)

Hmmmm, apparently Allah has promised Zarqawi "28 beardless young boys described as 'boys of perpetual freshness; if thou seest them, thou wouldst think them as scattered pearls, dressed in silk and brocade, and embellished with bracelets of silver.' (76:10-25)"

I guess Zarqawi doesn't need to repent after all.

Actually, he gets Yasser Arafat x 72! Hmm, no, I guess that would be heaven for Arafat and we can't have that...How about Saddam Hussein x 72? No, he's not dead yet. Okay, he gets Arafat but as soon as she is gone they both get Helen Thomas?

LOL! Helen Thomas!

What appalls me is the left's insatiable desire to acknowledge the good that happens in Iraq. They've painted themselves into a corner and are now in the awkward position of having to deny every advance made in the war. The killing of Zarqawi is HUGE behind only the capture of Saddam and killing of his sons.

I saw a news conference this morning in which the media were questioning a commanding general about the Zarqawi death and the questions seemed to be hopeful that the US soldier did something "Haditha"y. "Did US soldiers shoot Al-Zarqawi after they found him in the rubble?" and "Did the US send medics to attempt to save his life?" Etc. GEESH! No answer short of "Yes, MSM, US troops located the dying Al-Zarqawi freedom fighter and shot him in the head Haditha style. No, we offered no medical support and let him die slowly." BS! The US medics tried to save his life and address his wounds.

I believe this war has moved out of the military phase and into the spiritual one. That is, I get the firm inclination that there are definitely 2 wars:

1)Militarily fought: we cannot lose militarily. We are winning/have won militarily. We're in no danger of not winning (unless some pansy liberal wins in '08 and pulls the presence from Iraq). I don't see that happening.

2) Spiritually fouoght: there are truly spirits and principalities behind the slimy words used by a John Murtha and a Cindy Sheehan, CNN, MSNBC and the other news agencies hell bent on failure in Iraq. Consciously it makes no sense that anyone would promote failure in Iraq and the arguments are idiotic. Clearly there is a spiritual force at work to have this effort fail so more innocent lives will be lost (look at the Vietnam withdrawal) and countries made more vulnerable to Islamic extremists (look at how libs compromise our safety with opposition to the war on terror, the NSA, the Patriot Act...)

My children and I prayed Wed. night for the failure and thwarting of terrorism in Iraq and that evil people would be eliminated so the good people of Iraq can find true religious freedom and enjoy a good life. We're very happy to see Al-Zarqawi dead. ALLAH BE PRAISED.

john-- Good one! No liberals here so far. They are probably hiding their heads in the sand and making up talking points in reply for this great catch and bag of one of the worst evil people in history, albeit it on a minor scale.

Did anyone note the obvious hypocricy of John Murtha? In his interview to CNN he said in response to the question of whether killing Zarqawi would have been possible if not for US Forces:

"I’m not sure about that. I’m not sure it was a bomb that killed him from the air. So I’m not sure about that. There’s no question we can’t win this militarily."

So let me get this straight, Congressman: You doubt the SUCCESSES of our troops but are sure of ALLEGED FAILURES of our troops (Haditha)? What a patriot!

The military released doggone video of the Air Force bombing the safehouse but Murtha DOUBTS that the US did it? Maybe it was Iraqis... yes, maybe not on their own.. unsure... yes.... but killing Zarqawi is a good thing... yes.. so the US COULDN'T be responsible....
June 9, 2006 | Unregistered CommenterAmy Proctor
Maybe John "Don't question my patriotism" Murtha thinks Zarqawi committed suicide?
June 9, 2006 | Unregistered CommenterMwalimu Daudi
Good news indeed, Amy! Too bad it happened so quickly for Al-Zarqawi. To hear the crazed squawking from "the continent of doomed Ostriches" (to quote another blogger) is really something though.
