Anbar is So Secure Marines Are Bored in Iraq

You have to go to page A17 in the Kansas City Star  to find any news about Iraq on Friday. The headline: "Militia killings brutal, but fewer". There were more important stories, after all, than peace breaking out in Iraq, like the "Honeybee mystery deepens in Florida" story on page A10 or the "Hit and run charges against Britney Spears are dropped" report on page A15.

Since the main stream media thinks good news is no news, here are a couple neglected good news stories coming out of Iraq.

Anbar is So Secure Marines are Bored

Marines are getting bored in Anbar Province. With no enemy to fight and only peace to keep, what's a Marine to do? The last time a roadside bomb was found in Anbar Province was April 2007 in Ramadi.

There was not a single casualty, killed or wounded, in Anbar Province last week.

Since June:

  • Violence in Iraq down 59%
  • Casualties from roadside bombs down 80%
  • Casualties from emeny attacks down 77%

Ramadi Celebrates Security

In Ramadi, residents and local officials had a parade celebrating the security of their city. There were zero attacks in the past 5 months.

HOOAH!

Lord knows we have needed some -- a lot -- of good news out of Iraq for some time now. Along with having us a bunch of bored Marines...
