Over One Million Visit Baghdad Zoo in October

The Baghdad Zoo, where Uday and Qusay Hussein kept their lions and leopards, provides respite to Iraqi with more than one million visitors in October during the Eid al-Fitr holiday. (great photos)

This is the only zoo in Iraq and is a magnet for families who travel from all over the country to visit the exhibits.

There are still kinks to be worked out and quite a bit of hard work ahead but this illustrates the across the country efforts of the U.S. Military and the Iraqi people, even former insurgents, to weed out and rid themselves of al-Qaeda.

Amy, I voted for this. You bring information that is so important for people to see.

Iraq is about more than violence and good news and bad news stories.

Is it about human beings desiring nothing more than to live and enjoy life in freedom.

Thank you for this.

Thanks, Spree. And you got the message 100%

When John came home for 2 weeks leave during his Iraq tour we took advantage of Busch Gardens Heroes program in which military gets in free. Great promotional still going on today. Our family went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg and I was inundated with thoughts about Iraqis, especially since we've befriended Catholic Iraqis, and how much they would LOVE the beautiful scenery, everthing lush and green, great rides... I couldn't help wishing this sort of democracy and free enterprise for them. Just the sheer joy of being with family, friends and having a good time in a beautiful setting.

The part of democracy/freedom that has its drawbacks is the part that allows people to promote selfishness which hurts the bigger picture... like pornography, abortion, etc. St. Paul wrote that we are free, but shouldn't use our liberty as an occassion for sin.

So, yes, the message here is that even in a war zone people are all the same. We all want happiness, leisure and security. We're on our way to accomplishing that in Iraq.

Wonderful things have been happening in Iraq, especially as of late, but does the majority of the MSM acknowledge that fact? Well, I certainly don't need to answer that question, do I?

Thank you, Amy, for pointing out what the MSM fails to do. They get paid to report the truth and don't. You blog for free and tell the truth. There is a major difference in character there, and you're on the higher end by light years!
