Top NCO's in Iraq Refute Former Soldiers' Criticism

On CNN's Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer, the two highest ranking Non-Commissioned Officers in Iraq, Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Ciotola and CSM Hill, spoke from Baghdad on views within the military criticizing the war.

CSM Ciotola called GEN Sanchez's perspective that "America is living a nightmare with no end in sight" "dated by a number of years". They also disagreed with twelve former Army captains who penned an op-ed to Washington Times criticizing the war saying there is significant change on the ground in Iraq.

I sort of wish the SGTs could have been blunter and clearer about the successes. They probably don't realize just how deep the MSM-fostered ignorance about OIF in the American public really is. Some plain talk, repeated confidently, is about the only thing that can pierce the foggification.

It's funny how the guys who support the war effort are much more tactful in their expression of the progress whereas the handful of soldiers who openly criticize it do so bluntly.

I think part of the reason it is done this way is to make it less political and emotional. If GEN Petraeus were more "blunt", he would be a polarizing figure and he wants to avoid that to ensure greater success of the mission with less interference from politicians.
