America’s Insurgency is the Democratic Party

Bottom Line Up Front: Back from their controversial trip to Syria, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and fellow California Democrat Rep. Tom Lantos, are eyeing a trip to Iran to meet with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad while Democrats on the Senate Armed Services Committee try to eliminate the phrase “global war on terrorism” for the upcoming National Defense Authorization Act.

Fox News interview with Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) on Pelosi’s possible trip to Iran:

America is under attack as a domestic political insurgency led by Nancy Pelosi in concert with leading Democrats continues to undermine America’s foreign policy around the world. For all intents and purposes, Speaker Pelosi acts as President in proxy, or at best Secretary of State, and seeks dialogue with terrorist nations America has vowed not to engage in dialogue with. Senator Lantos said:

“Speaking just for myself, I would be ready to get on a plane tomorrow morning, because however objectionable, unfair and inaccurate many of [Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s] statements are, it is important that we have a dialogue with him,” Lantos said at a press conference on Tuesday.

“I’m ready to go - and knowing the speaker, I think that she might be.”

Pelosi did not dispute that statement.

There’s a reason Democrats are trying to ban the term “global war on terrorism” from the 2008 National Defense Authorization Act:  They implicate themselves as enemies of America and allies of terrorism when doing so.

House Republican leader John Boehner said:

“The attempt by Democrats to erase the words ‘global’ and ‘terror’ from our current war is an absurd effort to deny the fact that America is battling terrorism on a global scale. How do Democrats expect America to fight and win a war they deny is even taking place?”

How indeed? An instigator of the verbiage shuffle, Democrat Ike Skelton (D-MO) gave a lame explanation

Make no mistake about it: this is a Democratic surge to dummy down the enemy and elevate their power in micromanaging the global war on terrorism until there is nothing to micromanage.

The Democratic effort, which they justify by their narrow victory in last year’s midterm elections, to collaborate with state sponsored terrorists is a disturbing reality. The very soldiers Democrats purport to care so deeply about are being killed by the very people they want to dialogue with… and the effort to bring the troops home from Iraq prematurely will give terrorism more fertilizer to grow and a breeding ground with which to do so.

There is an insurgency in the United States… and it’s leader is the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

"Nut Professor" is actually a Canadian Communist (no, I'm serious) whose stalked me for a couple years now. No hard feelings when I ban him, then.

It's funny how the happiest Communists are the ones in free societies rather than Communist countries. Anyone ever noticed that?

PS... I wonder what constitutes a "religious fanatic"... someone who worships God rathan himself? We're not going anywhere, but thanks. If anything, we're trying to send you in Canada all our hippies so we'll be all Red States. HOOAH!

RCP

I'm somewhat confused by the actions/words/deeds of the Speaker. When she says, “Speaking just for myself, I would be ready to get on a plane tomorrow morning...." I get lost. She has been saying that this is what WE the American people want. But now she says she's just speaking for herself...so which is it?

Also, under what terminology does Iran or Syria fit within? I mean is this part of the "Global War on Terrorism," “the war in Iraq,” the “war in Afghanistan, “operations in the Horn of Africa” or “ongoing military operations throughout the world?”

Confuses the issue doesn't it

April 11, 2007 | Unregistered CommenterBlandly Urbane

Blandly, I didn't make that clear at all. Senator Lantos, who accompanied Pelosi to Syria, said "Speaking for myself, I'd go tomorrow.."

Pelosi's a great example of why the electorate needs to get serious and make an effort to quit electing idiots to public office, while they can be entertaining to watch on the nightly news, stupid people really can do serious damage to the country and need to be kept safely in their part time jobs at McDonalds. while getting your drive thru order screwed up is an annoyance, it's certainly better than having your representatives surrendering to despots on your behalf.

Pelosi is showing the world what the modern American Democratic Party stands for;
weakness, compromise, appeasement,America bashing and above all, embarrass George W. Bush no matter what it does to our national security. Pathetic.

I am not at all surprised at their rather ridiculous tactics. Let them continue to drown in their ignorance. The worse they look the better we look.

Not to provoke an argument, Mark, you shouldn't mock fast-food workers, a lot of them are students who are doing their best and even those who need the money and were not blessed or lucky enough to afford college.

I have to admit I have never done that kind of work and it takes great stamina to do the jobs that they do.

Amy, what I would really like to know, is what will those on the right do if the Libs win not only the White House but both the Senate and the House in 2008?

What will the Conservatives do if the Dems then pull our troops out of Irag before the job is complete, and that action leads to the total collapse of Iraq and another terrorist attack in our own country that kills thousands more men, women and children right here? What will the Conservatives and Republicans do if Hillary becomes president and continues the destruction of our security and moral valuse which her husband started?

Will they rise up or will they just sit back and cry "Woe is me" and hope that in four years they could turn things around? By that time it could well be too late.

"Amy, what I would really like to know, is what will those on the right do if the Libs win not only the White House but both the Senate and the House in 2008?"

Civil War. The Democrats are working towards doing away with the electoral process in elections because Al Gore would have won by 500,000 votes if elected by popular vote. Now, considering those votes mostly likely came from the heaviest populated cities that would be a bad thing because it would mean that 3 or 4 states would be governing the whole country. The founding fathers didn't like that thought any more than I do now and likely most everybody who isn't from one of those states.

If that political party should ever get that much power to do away with laws set forth in the Constitution, they will likely do away with the Constitution altogether at some point. A lot of people think I'm crazy when I say things like this but you see it happening in small doses and steps every day. There will be blood on the streets here if this "trend" continues.

Nancy Pelosi broke the law and nobody's willing to do anything about it. She has shown utter disrespect for the Executive Branch of our government. Regardless of how she feels about Bush personally he is our president and she is not only a member of Congress but the Speaker of the House and should set an example for others. She doesn't. Instead she goes out of her way to crap on everything United States citizens hold dear while claiming this is what the American People want. Well, which American people? The ones in the United States or the ones in Mexico and Cental America? South America? Canada? It sure ain't us, is it? They're all Americans, too, but they aren't citizens of this country.

One of the regular posters on my blog posted something that I would like others to read. You can find it here: http://hillbillypolitics.com/?p=55 about 4 posts in I believe. This isn't taught in the schools anymore. History books are being rewritten even as I type so as not to offend anyone. If history is that offensive, why bury it and doom ourselves to repeating it endlessly. Be ashamed of our shameful parts and work to not ever be that shameful again but don't bury it. Every country in the world has shameful history. It's part of the human condition. If people are offended by the truth, they just have to "get over it."

April 12, 2007 | Unregistered CommenterSteph

I'd like to know who Pelosi thinks she is. This isn't about Democrat or Republican, liberal or conservative, it's about overstepping one's bounds. It's not Pelosi's job to handle foreign policy. Talk about being drunk on power. Her visit yielded nothing anyway. She said both sides were willing to talk and then both sides went to the media saying they're NOT willing to talk.

In all honesty, things like this are what's going to keep the Republicans in office in 2008. All Pelosi has to do is be herself and she'll cost herself her position as well as probably giving control of the House and Senate back to the Repubs. It's nice to know one's political enemies are so adept at dealing themselves out.

April 12, 2007 | Unregistered CommenterTrent

Leticia,

My apologies, I didn't intend to insult McDonalds employees by comparing them to Pelosi. you're right, Pelosi wouldn't have the skills or aptitude that job requires.

April 12, 2007 | Unregistered CommenterMark Krauss

Mark,

You got that right! She would be absolutely lost, pity.

I also would like to know how Pelosi is getting away with so much?! Since when does the Speaker of the House deal with foreign policy, anyhow?

As I stated earlier, let her bury herself and her counterparts.

April 12, 2007 | Unregistered CommenterLeticia

"Her visit yielded nothing anyway. She said both sides were willing to talk and then both sides went to the media saying they're NOT willing to talk."

Her visit yeilded less than nothing if the Middle East papers and blogs are anything to go by... she set relations back at least a decade and still doesn't have the intelligence to understand what she did wrong.
