U.S. GEN Praises Iraqis

Bottom Line Up Front:  Progress in Iraq is occurring daily despite what war critics claim.

Major General Kevin Bergner, Multi-National Force-Iraq spokesman, briefs press in Baghdad and lays out facts about al-Qaeda as Iraq’s enemy #1. He went on to praise the Iraqi people as a people who deserve a great deal of respect for their courage and resolve. MG Bergner discusses the U.S. mission as a U.N. mandated mission to help Iraq obtain security and stability in their country and also discusses how U.S. troops try to avoid civilian casualties.

One of the most interesting aspects of this news conference is the number of Iraqi reporters and their blunt but hopeful questions to the general. (go to the Pentagon Channel to view the entire video). Freedom of the press was non-existent under Saddam Hussein but is an essential to any free people.
