AIMY: "A Marine being cleared of wrongdoing in the Haditha murders of Iraqi civilians wants John Murtha censured ..."
SG: As I listen to the video you (R) (R)epo(R)ting on AIMS, I hear ...
* it is being RECOMMENDED that the Marine be cleared
* of murder, but not necessarily all wrong doing
* that it is his mommy and daddy who are objecting to Murtha's comments, not him
If the (R)ight is all upset because Murtha may have spoken too hastily, doing the same thing AIMS, doesn't really discredit him, although discredit is present, if you know what I mean. More 'to(R)tu(R)ed logic ...
Boy, a former soldier like Murtha exercises his free speech, and the (R)ight has to 'Plame him' ...

Another Marine is suing. OORAH!
I thought conservatives hated frivolous lawsuits? Another stereotype shattered, I suppose.
Oh ... and when it comes to 't(R)eason', y'all sure don't want Murtha to "SCOOT" around justice, now do yah ...!

Vesti-Buell: "I thought conservatives hated frivolous lawsuits?"
SG: ... Except when someone is abusing ou(R) t(R)oops ... err .... unless it is the Administration at Walter Reed ... err .... because we (R) not allowed to question the p(R)esident, which is to insult him, because he is p(R)otecting our f(R)eedom in I(R)aq ... err .... so we can not exercise that f(R)eedom, in order to p(R)otect it from the terrorists ... err .... who would follow us here and use logic and evidence against our p(R)esident, if we did ...

Amy,
No comment to the above? Here's what I found on that wildly LIBERAL TV Network - FOX NEWS;
(Quoted) ".... Weeks after allegedly being criticized by officers for not being tough enough, seven Marines and a Navy corpsman went out late one night to find and kill a suspected insurgent in the village of Hamandiya near the Abu Ghraib prison. The Marines and corpsman were from 2nd Platoon, Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 5th Regiment.
Lopezromo testified that the man was known to his neighbors as the "prince of jihad," and had been arrested several times and later released by the Iraqi legal system.
Unable to find him, the Marines and corpsman dragged another man from his house, fatally shot him, and then planted an AK-47 assault rifle near the body to make it appear he had been killed in a shootout, according to court testimony. (End of quote)
Gee, what war will do to the psyche of regular, normal soldiers is well documented, EXCEPT for the Armed Forces and REPUBLICANS. That's why the US Army and Marine Corps have discharged (read KICKED OUT!) over 22,000 soldiers for "pre-existing mental dosorders" during this war. It's known as a "Chapter 5-13" or "separation because of personality disorder." I guess they never heard of Post Tramatic Stress Syndrome ("shell shock")!
Here's where you lose your "...the DEMS hate our troops" argument either way:
One - the US ARMY and Marine Corpm are great at recruiting soldiers with "mental disorders" and "helping" them by putting rifles in their hands and sending them into combat. I guess it takes a few murderers off OUR streets for awhile.
OR
Two - The Republicans just doesn't GIVE A DAMN about our troops, their welfare, their families, their wives, their children or ANYTHING, but using them and discharging (DISCARDING) them like used tissue for their own political ambitions. I guess that includes those poor people we're trying to "liberate" i.e. the Iraqi population.
Oh, by the way, these soldiers with "pre-existing mental dosorders" don't get ANY military assistance at the VA hospitals to help them and often have to PAY BACK any enlistment bonuses issued to them. Wow - how caring!!
Only the ones left to suffer are our combat veterans, their loved ones and in the end - our society in general.

Arg, I just posted and lost a long reply..
Murtha and Mike Nifong should go out a have a drink -- they have a lot in common.
Bill.. I'd be interested to see some evidence of the military recruiting men with mental disorders... that's contrary to regulations, as I'm sure you as a military man know.
I'd be real interested in that evidence, too, if have it handy. The when, where, and how of it. Is this recent or historical?
Snerd, you don’t spell well.
*** It is being RECOMMENDED that the Marine be cleared; correct, and when a military investigator briefs JAG that a soldier should be cleared, he almost always is. He is in the process of being cleared.
*** Murtha may be a former Marine but he is trying his hardest to distance himself from his distinguished career. To accuse a fellow Marine of murdering civilians in cold blood without any of the facts in is immoral for a public servant. As it turns out, the law is proving him wrong.
*** Vestibule said:
Only a lib would think slandering a troop to be frivolous.
*** Snerd, with all due respect your comments about Walter Reed, etc., are so stupid I’m not going to waste time replying.
Bill, why are libs so afraid of Fox News? What do they report that is fake?
*** Recruiting anyone with a mental disablilty is not only against regulations it doesn’t make sense. Nice try, though.
If the troops like Democrats so much more than Republicans, why was the 2000 Bush/Cheney campaign plea to the troops HELP IS ON THE WAY! ? Oh, Johnny and I remember it well, surviving 8 years under Clinton who demoralized the military.
If troops like Democrats so much more than Republicans, why did 73% of soldiers vote for Bush over Kerry (18%) in 2004?
Only a lib would think slandering a troop to be frivolous.
My comment was more clever than yours. I win.
You win what, the anti-troop of the day award? Congrats, you can have it.
I see you think highly of yourself. I'll give you and your wit some privacy.
I'll go with censuring Murtha Toad...in a NY nanosecond.
Summary
The House of Representatives is expressly authorized within the United States Constitution (Article I, Section 5, clause 2) to discipline or “punish” its own Members. This authority of the institution of the House to discipline a Member for “disorderly Behaviour” is in addition to any criminal or civil liability that a Member of the House may incur for particular misconduct, and is a device or procedure designed not so much as merely a punishment of the individual Member, but rather ultimately as a measure to protect the institutional integrity of the House of Representatives, its proceedings and its reputation.

Murtha has long been loose-cannon apeshit, and deserves only the minimum amount of attention required to slap him down.
Couldn't resist the last word, eh?
No.
How come... when everybody is talking about Iraq... nobody ever mentions the Kurds? A whole sector of the country, while still having some problems, is stable and has a growing economy. You know the ones I'm talking about, right? Those people in the north whom Saddam Hussein killed by the 100s of thoudands?
Ethnically, Kurdish people, identify with Iran. Yet, they are indigenous and have no affiliation with anyone ethnicity. They certainly do not feel associated with Iraq in a ‘national’ sense of the word. However, this doesn’t mean they will not participate in a benevolent government of Iraq or Iran. The Kurdish people are not an imminent threat to Saudi Arabia or Iran who are sending in people and ammo to fight each other for control of the country. Most of the fighting is taking place in Baghdad and along the river systems in Iraq for control of passage ways. The serge is focused on securing the water- passage towns and districts -- free from terrorist groups, at the moment. This is the report everyone will be waiting for come September.
Cal, I'm not talking about ethnicity, I'm talking about Iraq. Whether they identify ethnically with Iran their region is part of the country of Iraq. Regardless of what the focus of the surge is and sucesseses and/or failures, the Kurdish have a been a success that has largely been ignored... probably because of their ethnicity but shouldn't have been. They are no longer being slaughtered by the hundreds of thousands by their former ruler.
The Kurds? Success? Oh... you guys must mean THIS kind of success:
>>>"Hundreds of Iraqi Kurds have been forced to flee their homes after up to 30,000 Turkish soldiers massed on the Iraqi-Turkish border and launched attacks against Kurdish fighters, Iraqi border police say. Local aid agencies said Kurdish fighters had prevented them from entering the villages, which were being targeted. "The bombardments have forced hundreds to abandon their homes and leave for safer areas. Some houses were looted by Kurdish fighters, according to witnesses in the area," said Rastgo Muhammad Barsaz, spokesman for the non-governmental organization Kurdistan Campaign to Help Victims of War. "Dashati Takhe village, on the border near Zakho, is one of the most affected areas. We have been informed of civilian causalities but we don't know how many, as we are being denied access to the area. But by telephone, civilians have told us they are short of food and water," Barsaz said.
In response to recent attacks, including a bombing in Ankara in May that killed eight people, Turkey expanded its force along the border, deploying additional artillery and dozens of tanks. Iraqi border police say Turkey has 20,000-30,000 soldiers along its border with Iraq, and has set up a special security zone that restricts movement in the area."

Well, I suppose the right wing blog answer to all this is to simply INVADE TURKEY, right?
You guys are precious!

Cobra, leave the war to the big boys who know what they're talking about. Oh, and I don't listen to anti-war liberal sources like the one you cited.
Before you mock the Kurds (or the U.S., I can't keep up with who you libs are making fun of and running into the ground next), the regional President of Kurdistan says, according to Memri TV in an interview I saw not long ago (I can get the link if you're interested, it was fascinating) that Israel has a right to its sovereignty, talked about the economic growth and religious freedom in the area. In fact, most Christians in Iraq are now in the Kurdish north for this reason. It is a success.
And by the way, I find it odd that someone who likes Michael Moore and his evaluation of the U.S. health care system, would have the audacity to judge the harships elsewhere in the world. The U.S. has people leaving their homes, gross governmental incompetence (like a Democratically controlled Louisiana during Katrina, which interestingly enough is still a lawless state resembling those violent pics you're so fond of from Iraq), sadistic murders, religous intolaterance (as evidenced by the ACLU, etc).
Take the plank out of your own eye before noting the splinter in someone else's.

LOL--which "big boys" are those? The blood-thirsty crew who wants to fight the whole world for Bush who post to your blog?
“Big Boys” like some of your heroes here:
>>>”* Feb. 7, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, to U.S. troops in Aviano, Italy: "It is unknowable how long that conflict will last. It could last six days, six weeks. I doubt six months."
* March 4, Air Force Gen. Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, at a breakfast with reporters: "What you'd like to do is have it be a short, short conflict. . . . Iraq is much weaker than they were back in the '90s," when its forces were routed from Kuwait.
* March 11, Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, in a speech to the Veterans of Foreign Wars: "The Iraqi people understand what this crisis is about. Like the people of France in the 1940s, they view us as their hoped-for liberator."
* March 16, Vice President Cheney, on NBC's Meet the Press: "I think things have gotten so bad inside Iraq, from the standpoint of the Iraqi people, my belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators. . . . I think it will go relatively quickly, . . . (in) weeks rather than months." He predicted that regular Iraqi soldiers would not "put up such a struggle" and that even "significant elements of the Republican Guard . . . are likely to step aside."

Yeah, I guess they REALLY know what they’re talking about, huh Amy?

Ok. Fair enough. How about Reuters and USA Today?
>>>”BAGHDAD (AP) — The Iraqi government said Turkish artillery and warplanes bombarded areas of northern Iraq on Wednesday and called on Turkey to stop military operations and resolve the conflict diplomatically.
The claim occurred amid rising tension and Turkish threats to strike bases of the Kurdistan Workers Party or PKK, which has been launching attacks against targets in Turkey from sanctuaries in Iraq.
Government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh told The Associated Press that the morning bombardment struck areas of the northern province of Dahuk, some 260 miles northwest of Baghdad.
Col. Hussein Kamal said about 250 shells were fired into Iraq from Turkey. He added that there were no casualties on the Iraqi side of the border.
"We have received reports that the Turkish government and the Turkish army have bombed border villages. The Iraqi government regrets the Turkish military operations of artillery and warplanes bombing against border cities and towns," al-Dabbagh said.”

>>>”ARBIL, Iraq (Reuters) - Turkey's army heavily shelled Kurdish rebel targets just inside the border of northern Iraq on Wednesday, Kurdish officials said on Thursday.
Iraq's government condemned the latest shelling of its semi-autonomous Kurdistan region and urged Turkey to hold talks to resolve Ankara's concerns about rebels from the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) who are based in the border area.
Jabar Yawer, deputy minister for security forces in Iraq's Kurdistan, said about 100 shells were fired around the town of Zakho in northern Iraq. No one was hurt but many residents were forced to flee, he told Reuters.
The barrage followed the killing of three Turkish soldiers when their vehicle hit a rebel landmine near the border with Iraq, he said.”

Now, I know you’re probably holding out for a FOX NEWS ALERT on this subject before you actually BELIEVE this bombing took place, but with all the talk of Lindsay Lohan sightings and pit bulls, you may be waiting a wee bit longer than normal.
Now once again, when do you want US forces to start the invasion of Turkey?
