Murtha Cuts & Runs from Innocent Haditha Marines
Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at 07:31PM Jason Mattera of the Young America’s Foundation grilled Democratic Congressman John Murtha in the halls of Congress as another Marine accused of killing civilians in Haditha, Iraq, had charges against him dismissed. Before any of the facts were in, Murtha accused the Haditha Marines of killing innocent civilians in cold blood.

slithered off without a comment, eh? Jack seems considerably less concerned with the Haditha incident nowadays, you'd think he would be staying abreast of the legal wrangling. humm, no useful soundbites this time i guess.
I know we shouldn't disrespect Jack because of his service as a United States Marine, but even the Corps has bad apples and Jack is rotten to the Corps.
If there was ever an 'ex'-Marine, Murtha would be the prototype.
Amy,
Though we disagree on many things, may I say that asking members of Congress to discuss their own words and actions is ALWAYS appropriate, and a good thing.
I love how he resorts to "Have you served? Have you served?"
As if that should give Murtha a free pass to being confronted and questioned by Mattera, about being wrong.
"Would you like to issue an apology, sir?"
Guess the answer was "no"...
Murtha may have served, but by the same token, so have the Marines he slandered. Murtha accused these Marines of being cold blooded murderers for clearing rooms as they were trained to do. Why can only troops from Operation Iraqi Freedom be scrutinized? Why can't a Marine from the Korean and Vietnam wars be held to account?
It sounded to me like Murtha's "The trial isn't over yet" sigh was more of a "there's still hope yet" sigh. That's how it sounded to this Army wife, like Murtha's holding out hope that the Marines are guilty.
And that authority by association is incorrect. Right is right now matter who says it.
To those who repeatedly defend Murtha by pointing out that he has served with distinction (which I applaud). I would also point out that so did Benedict Arnold before he sold out West Point. Because of his convicting those Marines without benefit of trial, I put him in the same boat.
btw...I'mmmmm baaa-aaack
