Couric Implies Petraeus is Propagandist

Bottom Line Up Front:  Liberals confronted with progress on the ground in Iraq have the awkward choice of switching sides or denying progress.  Katie Couric accepts progress but implies the military is pushing propaganda.

CBS's Katie Couric in Iraq this week was given a tour of Fallujah by GEN Petraeus and couldn't deny the progress.  Instead, she told Face the Nation: "You do see signs of life that seem to be normal. Of course that’s what the U.S. military wants me to see so you have to keep that in mind".

Another liberal confronted with progress on the ground chalking it up to propaganda. How sad for them.

Transcript

BOB SCHIEFFER, HOST: Katie, what are you impressions after being there on the scene? We’ve all followed this for years from afar but once you’re there — anything surprise you in particular?

KATIE COURIC: Well I was surprised, you know, after I went to Eastern Baghad. I was taken to the Allawi market which is near Haifa street which was the scene of that very bloody gun battle back in January and you know this market seemed to be thriving and there were a lot of people out and about. A lot of family owned businesses and vegetable stalls and so you do see signs of life that seem to be normal. Of course that’s what the U.S. military wants me to see so you have to keep that in mind as well.

Thanks for this post!

I cease to be amazed at the intensifying denial campaign on the left and in the media. Success on the ground is not only driving back the insurgency, it's tweaking the minds of the retreatists here at home.

Have a great holiday, Amy!

I think Couric wants to believe in what she sees but would have to abandon her bias. That's hard for anyone to do, I know from my conversion back to Catholicism from Protetantism, but it can be done! Seek the truth, Katie! It's right before your eyes, and it doesn't always involve blood and guts.

I won't go to hard on her, she admitted quite alot between the lines. Katie may be a liberal but she is not stupid. I will give her a week without judgement and then the gloves are off. CBS ratings depend on her and she knows she can't spin very much or they are dead in the water. She got her start at my local station so I will give her a little break. President Bush definately stood her on her ear with his surprise appearance in Al Anbar's Ramadi and not Bagdad. He made a very powerful statement today. I have several essays on the matter linked as well as one I hope you will support the petition linked by a coblogger on Israel.

I am so glad you put this video up :) It just boggles my mind when they do crap like this. Laura Ingraham would call this a "but" monkey. It's good... BUT..

She can join her old buddy Lauer on Today, he tried this with Delay and scandals. Lauer should his true colors also! You can see it at the top of My Point now!

I saw this posted over at Indigo Red's, and he left a link back to you, Amy.

Here's the comment I left over at Indigo's:

"Katie Couric. GAG!
Her opinion matters to me almost as much as the opinion of your average seven-year-old... probably less! There's just something about her I didn't like the first time I ever watched her and didn't know anything about her politics. It's that oh-so-cutesy persona she tries to portray. It's so absolutely phony that any perceptive person can see through it immediately.

Like I said: "GAG!"

I really can't think of anything else to say. She just hits me all wrong because she's such a phony.
