U.S. To Transfer Authority of Anbar Province Back to Iraq
Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 01:10AM Anbar Province is tasked to be handed over to Iraqi Security Forces in March and marks the 10th province out of 18 that are now completely under Iraqi control.
I guess this means the war isn’t lost and the surge worked? Just a few days after the year anniversary of the new strategy in Iraq, this comes as great news.

I recall how 6 months ago an entry like this would be overrun by anti-war, anti-Bush nuts who swore the surge wouldn't work and there would never, EVER be progress in Iraq. Troops continue to reenlist and join the military and libs stay as far away from this topic as possible.
Can't imagine why.
In 50 years, the Anbar Awakening will be remembered as the tipping point in the Iraq war. Democrats gave Anbar up for dead as recently as 4 months ago, when Mrs. Clinton insulted GEN Petraeus and MoveOn.org called the leader of one of history's most complex and strategically important counterinsurgency operations a "betrayer" of the American people.
Get ready, the Swift Boat Vets for Truth will be all over this in the summer campaign for president in '08.
Congrats to our troopers who have fought so bravely and unselfishly, and to the Iraqi people who take another bold stride towards freedom and democracy.
Barak Obama's "I was against the war from the beginning" position will sound as hollow as his resume when pressed for reasons why he thinks Saddam Hussein should still be in power.
When you think of Saddam Hussein being in power, many can justify it saying he only killed his own people... and some Kuwaitis... and some Iranians..... but mostly just his own. That's the compassionate liberal response.
Beyond that, we can see that Iran *says* it is developing nukes, Pakistan has nukes, Syria just had its nuclear site blown up last year by Israel, and we don't think Saddam's two evil heirs to the throne would have perpetuated any sort of Middle Eastern arms race. Qusay was the head of Saddam's WMD program. Uday just got the Olympic and sporting duties.
There's no doubt Democrats fall on the wrong side of this.
you're forgetting one thing, Amy. he tried shooting down our planes as they flew over the free zone. by the cease fire agreement we had the right to fly there thus he was commiting an act of war each time he did.
