2001 Radio Interview: Obama Disappointed that Supreme Court Didn’t Pursue Redistribution of Wealth
Monday, October 27, 2008 at 08:06AM In this 2001 radio interview, Barack Obama discusses the civil rights movement which focused on legalities, neglecting the redistribution of wealth and the tragedy of the Supreme Court to address the matter as well.He called it “economic justice”.
Obama also discusses that the U.S. Constitution is flawed to this day because of the founders’ cultural blind spot. Wow.

Close your eyes and do not read the subtitles, just listen to what is being said, do you really know what he is talking about. If you read the subtitles while you are listening you get a different message. Guyana here we come...

Ed is nuts. Eyes open/shut, Obama is talking about marxism dressed up in Christian clothing. Obama is clearly a marxist, and marxism has succeeded in how many countries in the world so far? Right. Zero.
Obama is a threat to American traditional democracy. The coupling of liberation theology marxist Obama with a Reid/Pelosi congress is incendiary. The unborn are hosed for a generation. And God Almighty WILL judge us for it.

Honestly, I wouldn't be nearly as worried if Hillary were President. She was a superior candidate. It isnt' about party differences, it's about damaging America. Obama is way too liberal and unproven.
If you listen without political bias it appears that Obama was intending as his point seems to be that the 60s reformers were too court-focused. But it's not at all clear that Obama had in mind listening to the audio alone without help from the subtitles. This does not Obama justice that only parts of the audio are posted There is an obvious bias of the person who edited the audio. Without the rest of the audio, which started in the middle of a sentence, it is probably a decent bet that the rest of the audio makes the comments seem more innocuous than they do in the excerpts. There is a separate point in the interview about Obama's interest in "major redistributive change", it would be interesting to know if Obama endorsed that goal in the interview, and what specifically he had in mind. Where is the rest of the audio, this is inconclusive.
Let us take the bible for an example and I am not changing the subject, just trying to make a point. I would do this for Palin or anyone else; I am just trying to be fair. I use examples from the bible because it is easier for me to do so.
1 Corinthians 14: 34 women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.
1 Tim. 2: 11 Let a woman learn in peace, fully submitted; 12 but I do not permit a woman to teach a man or exercise authority over him; rather, she is to remain at peace.
Is the above is not the true message of the bible, but I know more than one preacher that used this for his own agenda.
Then you have Paul's letter to the Galatians, Paul said that in Christ, "There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one."
Good Grief if you just look at Paul's comments alone he cannot make up his mind, he is a lunatic! However, he is not, these are taken out of context.
If you are going to judge Obama, then to it right and judge him all the facts, not with political trickery.

Are we seeing economic justice today? No. We see class warfare on the middle class by the rich.
And as far as the Constitution, our Nation's greatest document, can anyone honestly say that the US Constitution didn't provide for slavery and the subjugation of women? Come on, that was the fundamental flaw Obama was talking about, and to suggest otherwise is dishonest. Or you think it's OK that the Constitution didn't allow women to vote, and didn't ban slavery?

I think the poor people should pay 36% in taxes, and the rich people pay 15%. Let's redistribute the wealth in the other direction for a change, since the current method has left us a ginormous deficiet. Surely rich people paying less taxes is the answer to our government's 10 trillion dollar money gap.

We have to be very careful about Obama's plan to redistribute wealth. When he becomes president, he's very likely to order the taxpayers' money to buy up private buisnesses, like banks. He's even likely to suggest that taxpayer money be used to buy people's home mortgages.
That would be dangerous, and to avoid such consequences, we must keep a Republican in power, and make sure McCain's policies are enacted.

Well Punchy, on that theme, here's a couple of other things to consider:
What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage following the debate, including a three month-old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter? How do you suppose your average midwesterner would've reacted to THAT?
What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review? Do you think he would be making a big thing of it?
What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his college graduating class like McCain did? Would anyone look at that any differently?
What if McCain had only married once and Obama was the one who was divorced instead?
What if Obama had met his second wife in a bar and had a long affair while he was still married? McCain skates on this one too, but can you imagine the treatment Obama would get over THAT?
What if Michelle Obama was the wife who not only became addicted to pain killers but also acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
What if Obama, instead of McCain, had been a member of the Keating Five? (The Keating Five were United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s.
What if Obama was the one who had military experience that included discipline problems and a record of crashing seven planes? Think that might come up or would we just talk about his years in a POW camp?
What if Obama was the one who was known to publicly display a serious anger management problem?
What if Michelle Obama's family had made their money from beer distribution?
This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes qualities in one and emphasizes negative characteristics in another.

Zogby polls show the gap closing between Obama and McCain.
As voters begin to digest the idea of a President who leans toward a socialist/Marxist style of politics, the gap between the two candidates is closing, and is less than 5 points. The ridiculous idea of redistribution of wealth isn’t so difficult to understand. It clearly favor’s the lazy and unmotivated, while capitalism always favors the ambitious entrepreneurial individual whose success creates jobs by default. Increasing taxes for anyone in a time of crisis is absurd at its core.
For nearly 230 years, capitalism has given this country the opportunity to be the leader of the free world, and we Americans like that. If Barack Obama is elected, the USA will fade into obscurity and irrelevance in the modern world.
Here’s hoping that failure finds its way to the door of Barack Obama before it’s too late.

As far as the line of thinking the Obama was using, it's pretty much in line with "Black Liberation Theology" which they took from "Liberation Theology". Sad to say, but I've had my disagreements with these priests that professed such ideas. Growing up in east side San Jose, MHT would have guest priests that would stay 6 months or so and move on. Father John was his name and he was visiting to collect extra money for his "ministry" in Central and South America. On one particular Sunday his sermon was more left than usual. He started talking about the secret American government. He also went off on the CIA and the US military, calling them evil. For me that was the last straw, I told my wife, daughter and her younger siblings to get up and leave thru the closest exit. The only person not get up was my mother, being a fervent Catholic you don't get during the priest's sermon. The only allowance she'd make is if you were "fully" on fire. My mother whispered in tagalog and told me to sit down. All the while hinding the fact she's pinching me extremenly hard in church. I told mom she doesn't have to leave, but I'm not going to let my family be exposed to "this".
After hearing this tape I'm more convinced than ever the Obama is trying to mask his beliefs. The fact we are just hearing this tape nationally provides more ammunition that the MSM hasn't told the full story on candidate Obama. Now, I understand why the Obama after 20 years wasn't shocked with the Good & Just Rev Wright, he agreed with him all the time. The Obama is preaching Marxism wrapped up in Black Liberation Theology with a moderate bow on top.

So, according to Cheryl, we should tax the (CRAP) out of the upper middle class [and higher], redistributing that wealth (in theory) to those who are less fortunate. That works well for any student just out of college who has yet to work his or her way up the proverbial ladder, but it works really well for the single mothers who continue to have babies out of marriage to increase their welfare stipends rather than finishing school and learning a trade or skill, and it really helps bubba and snerd gronk who sit on their butts all day drinking Colt 45, claiming some sort of state sponsored disability, qualifying for section 8 housing, and bringing the ghetto into the suburbs.
Oh yeah, please tax my boss so he will be less likely to be as generous as before and cut my benefits, so these low lifes get more for nothing. Obama’s philosophy of redistribution of wealth will only benefit the lazy and inept.

It's now presumptuous to ask questions of a candidate who wants to represent us?
The Republican philosophy of cutting taxes for the super rich, because somehow the benefits will find its way to the poor, it has never worked. In a perfect world, it could work, but greed prevents it from working. Reagan and Bush used this plan and all it left was a recession and a massive deficit. Most of you do not remember black Monday when Reagan had to shut down Wall Street for almost the same reasons back in 1987. So what did Bush do, he gave large tax cuts and tax loopholes were written into the tax code that catered to special corporate interests and the super rich. What we have had is trickle down economics on Steroids. What was the Result? Bigger deficits, and possibly a big recession.
So, why do people insist that cutting taxes for the super rich at the expense of the poor and middle class works, when it has been tried so many times and failed? It is called brain washing. The tax cut to large corporations eventually devalues the dollar and ends up as a back door tax.
Economics 101. You put money into the hands of the low-income brackets and they have money to spend which helps keep the economy giving it a jump start. Part of this is related to Maslow Hierarchy of Needs and some greed too. Giving tax breaks to the wealthy does not create jobs. Jobs are created when people have money to buy goods and services. What would happen if everyone would go into a supersaver mode…it would start an recession. That is why every economist talks and worries about consumer confidence. The trickle down theory does not work because of greed. I am not talking about small business because both the candidate plans do give breaks to small business if you would take the time to read them. Big business does not care about America or you, all they care about is profits. I work for an international company and profit makes the world go round. There should be a balance somewhere.
I do not know that Obama has the answer, but I do know that McCain does not have the answer. Look at the percentage spread of tax cuts from the rich to the poor. Actually, I will do better tax wise under the McCain plan, but I will not choose a candidate just for tax breaks. McCain twice opposed President Bush's tax cuts (Reagan 101), so what happened, Senator McCain argued, "I cannot in good conscience support a tax cut in which so many of the benefits go to the most fortunate among us at the expense of middle-class Americans who need tax relief.” Most of this redistribution of wealth everyone is talking about is Obama allowing those tax breaks that McCain fought against and give the breaks to the middle class like McCain wanted to do in the first place.
McCain sold you out is what happened. He wanted to become President so bad he set aside his beliefs. He knew the only way he could get the Republican nomination was succumbing to the Reaganomics theory.
I am not trying to feed you a line or trying to get you to vote for Obama, but please at least take a look at this link and look at the statistics of Reaganomics. Maybe the link is not all right and yes it is biased, but I am tired of hearing that cutting the taxes to the rich will solve all our problems.
