GOP Win in Georgia Ends Dems Hope of Filibuster-Proof Majority in Senate

Republican Saxby Chambliss of Georgia defeated his Democratic rival in a run off for the U.S. Senate, thwarting plans for a Democratic filibuster-proof majority.

GOP bigwigs like John McCain, Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani and Mike Huckabee made appearances for Chambliss recently in Georgia, with Sarah Palin headlining over the past 2 days, drawing thousands.

I was hoping for Republican defeats in Alaska, Michigan and Georgia, giving the Dems a filibuster-proof majority. It’s high timeAmericans got what they voted for without giving Democrats a Republican scapegoat. This would have been the perfect time for Americans to see what Democrats really have to offer.

I can't see giving the Dems carte blanche just to be able to tag them with failure when they fail. Too much is at stake.

And Palin was the "closer." That sends a message!

"Zero" had better keep us safe, because the "woman of steel" is looking over his shoulder .

I'm not speaking for the party or even for what is best for America, but more like a parent. After years of trying to "touch the hot stovetop", sometimes the best prevention is an ounce of medicine. The medicine doesn't come without the injury.

I agree Amy.

In light of a couple weak-kneed Republican "moderates", Republicans are still at a huge disadvantage. Look for increased government size, Increased taxes and decreased military budget. Look for the reversal of several executive orders and a new wardrobe for Nancy Pelosi; taxpayers will pick up the cost this time.
