Bin Laden's Attacks on Pope Show His Desperation

Fr. Jonathan Morris spoke to Fox News from the Vatican this morning discussing a new Osama bin Laden tape accusing Pope Benedict of leading a new crusade against Islam.

Fr. Jonathan describes the “new crusade against extremists” and how Muslims are abandoning the bin Ladenesque religion of violence and notes progress between the faiths, such as the 138 prominent Muslim leaders who are dialoguing with the Pope, the opening of the first Catholic Church in the history of Qatar this week and the Christian Churches Saudi Arabia is currently constructing.

Amy , bin Laden looked kinda sick in December, 2001. Could he really live and survive in a cave when he was in 1999-2000 receiving real first class medical help that the CIA and the French had admitted in their post-911 reports? Most people I know consider him dead. Plus, news to the cave must have reached him two years late. Cartoons were an issue two years ago.

The cartoon issue is making a comeback in Denmark. Terrorists have been threatening the artist recently, so it is timely.

Bin Laden could be dead but either way his legacy will be a failure because Muslims are running away from his twisted ideology.

Amy, there is actually a new film about Muhammad ( and how Islam tolerates or does not other religions) coming out -- done by Danish fim crew, and that is also part of this recent outbreak.

I have no idea if he is alive or not.

It doesn't matter if he's dead or not. His iconic image is still manipulated as an instrument of global Hirabism.

His attack on the Pope is a demonstration of the desperation of the movement. As with their attack on the Golden Dome Mosque in Sammarrah, AQ is trying to aggravate ancient, historical tensions in hope of dividing to conquer. This will not work. Thank God for both Christians and Muslims who are coming together to talk about peace and tolerance of one another.

i think we are witnessing something else that is important too. that is, that the use of terror is not a winning strategy. it may be effective on the weak but trying it against the strong reveals how poor the strategy is as a weapon.
