Daughters of Iraq Help Thwart Female Suicide Bombings

The first Daughters of Iraq group is forming in Baghdad within the Sons of Iraq, the highly successful group of Iraqi men that is helping maintain security throughout Iraq at the grass-roots level.

The newly formed Daughters of Iraq, comprised of Iraqi women, have been credited with increased security.

The Army Times:

The female group will be in the city of Yusafiyah, which had long been an insurgent stronghold and scene of battles with U.S. forces. The “DOI,” as the military referred to them, “would be able to search other females at security checkpoints,” which Iraqi cultural norms do not allow men to do.

Officials with the 3rd ID said this was necessary because of “insurgents utilizing females to carry out suicide attacks,” according to a Friday news release. The release also said the “Daughters of Iraq” would facilitate “female empowerment” and a “step toward a properly functioning democratic society.”

The introduction of the group in Yusafiyah follows the creation of the “Sisters of Fallujah” in Anbar province. That program, begun in December, has Iraqi women working with Marines and Iraqi police at checkpoints in Fallujah.

“The ‘Sisters of Fallujah’ are very essential to our efforts,” an Iraqi police captain was quoted as saying in an earlier Marine Corps news release.

“Before, no one could search the woman. Now with the ‘Sisters of Fallujah,’ we are able to prevent insurgents from smuggling anything harmful with the women and children.”

No one with credibility can say Iraqis are not standing up to protect their own country.  The Daughters of Iraq are yet another arm of the Iraqi security branch to help combat female suicide bombers and to maintain security in their sectors.

Women are now able to participate in government,seek education,and start the foundation of equal rights that was not possible before our men and women in uniform liberated them from a terrorist regime.

Equal representation will take a while in a muslim setting,and I am sure that due to the fact they don't have a "European"lifestyle today the "war is lost"crowd will yell "quagmire!",but they are a lot closer to it than they were
under Sadddam.

Watching women stand up and get involved in the liberation of their country like they have never been able to
before is yet another example of the great job out military does and has done through the centuries when it comes to taking out dictators and terrorist regimes.

The left in this country apparently does not view our Soldiers this way.
They don't mind voting to send them off to war them stabbing them in the back when it becomes politically advantageous for them.

They don't mind volunteering them to start new wars like in Pakistan when they can't even support the war they sent them to in Iraq.

They have made anti-military movies by the bus load (which have all bombed) and only speak of our Soldiers
in the terms of body counts,ignoring the incredibly brave and historic job they are accomplishing on the ground in the War on Terror.

In the recent political battle around the Marine recruiting station in Berkeley there has been much confusion around the concept or slogan of “supporting the troops,” but opposing the unjust wars of the Bush regime. Many who oppose the Bush regime wars also say they “support the troops.” Let me say it straight out—I do not support the troops and neither should you. It is objectively impossible to support the troops of the imperialist military forces of the U.S. and at the same time oppose the wars in which they fight.

ANTI-WAR STUDENTS ATTACK RECRUITERS:

At Seattle Central Community College, Army recruiter Sgt. Jeff Due and his colleague, Sgt. 1st Class Douglas Washington were surrounded by an angry mob of 500 anti-war students. The recruiters’ table was destroyed; their handouts torn apart. The protesters threw water bottles and newspapers at the soldiers, shouted profanities, and wielded their fists. The far Left Students Against War had been agitating to kick the recruiters off campus. The college administration refused to punish the mobsters.
