Who wins this priceless barb between liberal Democrat Congresswoman Maxine Waters and Shell Oil executive?

You tell me.

Liberals are fun.

I remember when I was a Democrat, years and years ago, that althoughthere was a somewhat liberal slant to the party, there was still some balance and room for conservative thinking. Now, Democrat is nearly synonymous with liberal and appears to be ...

Leftist Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D CA) threatened to nationalize (although she couldn't think of the word; that's our brilliant Congress!)

Hands down to the oil exec. Did you notice how the people reacted to her babbling? Good grief!

Who cares if she is a liberal, it is not just the liberals who are suffering at the pumps. I don't understand why she had to keep repeating, "this liberal." What? She doesn't have a name?

That was truly pathetic.

She had to repeat "liberal" to throw off her scent of radical socialism. That's not a liberal view, it's a far, far, leftist view. Liberals like to ask why the word "liberal" is often used disparagingly - now they just have to watch Maxi's video.

Socialism is Capitalism for Dummies: they don’t have to know how to make business work, they just have to usurp power over it and then blame it on the executives when the business inevitably fails; they take other peoples’ money and become worshiped for spending it; they raise taxes on the wealthy by calling them names and never thank them for their already great contributions, and they won’t cut a tax in fear of never getting it back, considering it money lost from THEIR bottom line.

I know, Leticia! Waters stumbled when she said the word "socialized" because she didn't want to go on the record saying that, but essentially that's what she said anyway! What arroganace. "What can you promise ME if I let YOU drill for oil (making us less dependent on foreign oil).

The oil companies are not the bad guys.

Uhh, What we have now is a government controlled oil industry, THAT'S the problem! that and a stupid electorate determined to elect as many idiots like Miss Maxine into our government.

The left wants to eat their keep and keep it too. Lets see, no drilling and development while demand grows, while screaming for cheap gas. This contradiction has hit the Democrats and Maxine Waters in the face. Her solution? Threaten to destroy the oil companies as a way to circumvent basic economics. It says a great deal anout the mindset and worldview of the left wing of the Democratic party.

Pardon my typo, I meant eat their cake and keep it to.

They both already won; America lost. The execs have a gazillion dollars from their overpaid jobs (plus a platinum parachute), and the Democratic Congress has the citizenry by the, well, you know. I suppose you could say we are ROYALLY screwed since Congress and corporate execs think themselves to be divinely righted to lord over us. We have the government we deserve, bought and paid for by the likes of those incorporated pirates.

I believe the margin of profit on refined petroleum products is somewhere around 8% which is near the national average for retail profits. If that is so, how can you blame the oil execs?

RV nailed it above:

Great job, Bobby!

What boggles the mind is there are real citizens who actually vote people like Waters into office. I recal another diva Cynthia McKinney who was by all accounts clinically insane.

May 28, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterGawfer

Johnny,
Its the type of contradiction that will undo them. Maybe not in 2008, but sooner then the left thinks.

May 31, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterrobert verdi

If they're so concerned about prices at the pump, they could always cut their tax on it.

*crickets chirping*

Yeah, that's what I thought.
