Troops’ Humanitarian Spirit Wins Hearts and Minds in Iraq

U.S. troops turned of one of their refueling stations into a makeshift children’s burn unit to accommodate Iraqi children burned by non-combat accidents, usually household mishaps. Watch this beautiful story of how U.S. troops, the humanitarians, are winning hearts and minds in the combat zone by going the extra mile (the last 50 seconds are the best part!).

These are the troops I know and love.

There is no weapon more potent than Christian love.
This is how we win a counterinsurgency - one life at a time.
God bless these brave and compassionate troopers.
God bless these poor Iraqis.

Oh, come on Amy. We all know these kids were TORTURED by the eeeevil Bush Administration. Household mishap, riight. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't Cheney himself who administered the torture. It was obvious the family members were terrified out of their minds. Someone probably had their guns trained on them so they wouldn't ruin the scene. Everybody knows that all the Iraqis hate Americans, duh.

I suspect someone will accuse the troops of having to have a burn unit since the children were burned by the war... except they weren't. These are the results of hot tea, oil burns, etc.

The troops cannot use military supplies to treat the children because the injuries weren't caused by combat related instances. The supplies come completely from donated supplies from the states. And the soldiers volunteer their time when they're waiting for their convoys to pick up and go at the refueling station.

COOL!

It is cool, Amy. It's too bad that the MSM isn't around to report these things. During the Surge they loved reporting the death and chaos the terrorists caused in Iraq, but film and report our troops doing something positive... nothing but crickets chirping. I think FOXNEWS was the last news organization that did an in depth report on what's going on in Iraq, it probably would be a good time for a follow up. Especially, before the election.

Michael Yon says on his blog that the war in Iraq is over. You know things are going well there by the deafening silence from the MSM. They have all turned to Afghanistan to accentuate Obama's polemical that military assets necessary in Afghanistan were 'diverted' to Iraq.

Now that AQ has been soundly routed in Iraq, I would guess they will try to redouble their efforts in Afghanistan. Bring it on.

Amy,
This video brought tears to my eyes. I am so tired of the same old argument that we must bring the troops home. The most powerful force in the world behaving with such tenderness is the perfect example of meekness: "absolute power under absolute control."

Like Johnny said, there is no weapon more potent that Christian Love.

John 13:35 "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
