Bill Clinton at DNC: ‘GOP Said I Was Young and Inexperienced, Too, But Look How Well I Turned Out’

Former president Bill Clinton addressed the Democratic National Convention today, trying to convince America that Barack Obama’s youth and inexperience isn’t a liability. After all, that’s what Republicans said about Clinton when he was running for president in 1992 and that turned out smashingly.

At least in Clinton’s egomaniacal mind.

(transcript)

My fellow Democrats, sixteen years ago, you gave me the profound honor to lead our party to victory and to lead our nation to a new era of peace and broadly shared prosperity. Together, we prevailed in a campaign in which the Republicans said I was too young and too inexperienced to be Commander-in-Chief. Sound familiar?

Oh, yes, it sounds familiar alright. I was there. I remember it well….

What a great legacy Clinton left behind.

Even with that, Clinton was still more qualified to be president than Obama. He served as Arkansas General Attorney and two terms as governor of Arkansas. At least he had executive experience.

Here’s Barack Obama’s resume’:

Professional Experience :

  • Attorney
  • Lecturer.

Political Experience :

  • Senator , United States Senate, 2005-present
  • Keynote Speaker, 2004 Democratic National Convention
  • Senator, Illinois State Senate, 1996-2004.

Well, at least it was a good speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. That should count for something.

You omitted the first bombing of the then-standing World Trade Center. Clinton and his team treated that as a legal matter, not an act of terrorism or war. That, plus the Somalia debacle set the stage for 9/11 and what we've seen the Islamofascists do since -- especially the bombing of the WTC, Pentagon and the failed mission of Flight 93.

Did anyone else notice that the Dems last night did not mention 9/11?

And what is that?

Could be it be they've never gotten past Sept. 10, 2001?

That's exactly what I thought when he said that! Awesome job of legacy busting.

The GOP Congress elected by a landslide in 1994 in response to President Clinton's policies are largely responsible for his signal achievements: balanced budget, welfare reform, etc...

And let's not forget that President Clinto never received a majority in the general elections. Ross Perot elected him twice by splitting the GOP voting block.

Lastly, Pres. Clinton looks like FDR compared to Obama: at least Pres. Clinton was a state Attorney General and a two-term governor.

Amy you are so correct on all the major points you cited, watching his speech I was thinking of the same responses...

Notwithstanding that, he definitely can deliver a great performance, he is their Reagan/FDR in terms of his communication skills. (NOT policy wise)

All the above comments are also devastatingly accurate. Didn't he end up signing about 70 % of the Contract with America? He won in 96' because he was blessed, respectfully, with a weak opponent, but more importantly, he triangulated with Morris' help big time and moved to the center...

The only reason B. Hussein Obama made an appearance next to Uncle Joe Biden (who has been consistenly wrong for 30 yrs on national security and is a handmaiden of Iran) was that the last two days/nights, were without a doubt, Clinton dominated.

He is going to have a hard time to counter-act that tonight when our "Zeus" gives his speech from Mt. Olympus to us mere mortals!!!

BTW he called Invesco Field Mile High, the old Broncos stadium.

Clinton,
If only he had the vision to work with the military and fight the good fight in Somalia. I admit it would have been politicaly tough for him to sell a hard fight on a foreign shore, but I suspect a succesful mission there would have greatly undercut Al Qaeda.
On a side note: As much as I like Romney for VP, I was thinking Rice really might be the best person for the job and the best person to help McCain get elected.

CKA, I didn't mention the first World Trade Center bombing because it happened to us rather than him not reacting as a commander in chief would. He did NOTHING in response to the USS Cole bombing. But point well taken! If I listed all of Clinton's shortcomings, mishandlings and failures I'd still be writing the entry.

I guess things really are subjective. Life as a military family was miserable under Clinton sucked. Morale was low. It was embarrassing to have him as Commander in Chief.

Bush, on the other hand, is a GREAT CinC. That Clinton has the audacity to criticize a superior CinC shows that he really was just preaching to the choir.

In 1989, our military was 2.1 million strong.
By 1999, our military was reduced to 1.4 million.

Currently, the US is at 1.366 million, Russia is at 1.52 million and China is at 2.8 million. Russia and China are growing while Clinton/Obama Philosophy is to further reduce. Yep, that makes me feel much safer.

Clinton cut 1.96 billion dollars out of the defense budget, and created a heroic surplus.

*Not to worry, st. Obama is still young; he'll get there eventually.

August 28, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterGawfer

st,
Obama-One racist psycho pastor mentor who after 20 years of preaching Obama was shocked to discover said such things!

August 28, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterrobert verdi

I like how st has to change the subject! There's usually a reason for that, eh mate?

robert points out recent history of Obama, st points out ancient history of McCains. Hmm.

August 28, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAmy Proctor

Im sorry..what was the subject again? I thought it was Character...of which your candidate has Little.

McCain: Pro-Abortion Episcopalian, member of the Keating 5, Adulterer, Wife is a pill popper who stole from her OWN charity.

Character winner: Obama

ha.

August 28, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterst

Robert,

What did Obamas pastor say that was racist? Were you aware WHITE people attend that guys church.

Are they self-hating white people?

sheesh.

August 28, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterst

ST,
I could care less about the skin color of anyone who sits at sermons that defined the hate speech and paranoia of Wright. By the way Obama never said anything racist, he just had one as a mentor. What's worse, not knowing your wifes investment portfolio or claiming to be shocked that a guy you knew for 20 years was a lunatic? By the way, since we are talking about houses, I wish I could end up with a million dollar home Wright got as a going away present. I tell you this ,evil America is pretty good place for some of us!

August 28, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterrobert verdi

Seriously? What did he say that was racist? Really. Have you seen any of the videos?

Oh.. and regarding character.. how about Obama: admitted coke & pothead...

<sigh> What's the point...

August 28, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKeithH

St,
Well I am not going into all of the Pastors stuff again, but here is one nugget for you: Describing Italians as "garlic noses". Its one of the dumber ones, but usefull nonetheless.

August 28, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterrobert verdi

"McCain: Pro-Abortion Episcopalian, member of the Keating 5, Adulterer, Wife is a pill popper who stole from her OWN charity."

Did I miss something? Character doesn’t mean living a spotless life; character comes from making good decisions. Good decisions come from making bad decisions.

McCain’s 26 year voting record that reflects100% pro life v. Obama voting against the BAIP act 4 times.

Episcopalian is a character flaw, yet listening to 20 years of how ‘THE MAN’ has made him the victim and its time for black Liberation Theology.

Keating 5... McCain Turned states evidence

Adulterer... admitted his worst mistake in life was his behavior that ended his first marriage.

But then to solidify your attack, you go after his wife?

What a pathetic loser you are. Go sit in the corner!

August 28, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterGawfer

Gawfer,

Amy says personal attacks violate her rules of engagement. I hope you can control yourself.

The fact is McCain is an adulterer and Obama is not.

If Michelle Obama had started a charity and then stole vicodin from it, Republicans would be calling for her head.

Gawfer, go drink more of Rupert Murdochs Kool aide, I can see your red mustache from here.

August 28, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterst

I often make the kind of comments that Clinton did. But, I'm being sarcastic. Bill actually believes his own delusion.
