Oprah to Palin: I Can Pencil You in After the Election

Amid vicious rumors that Oprah Winfrey, renowned talk show host and Obama supporter, was toying with the idea of having Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin on her show, Oprah issued this statement to TMZ to cut such ugly rumors off at the knees:

OPRAH: “The item in today’s Drudge Report  is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over.”

Barack Obama has been on Oprah twice (January, 2005 and October, 2006) Last year, Winfrey blocked an appearance by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, timed to a promotional tour of his autobiography.

Is someone afraid of Sarracuda?

What? Oprah has a hidden agenda?

At least now people will realize that she is truly a liberal. Maybe her spell will be broken over all the so-called conservative Oprah-ites.

Snerd,
It wasn't Fox saying no to Democrats, it was Democrats saying no to appearing on Fox. Anyway wasn't Senator Obama on Thursday, I think he said something about the surge.

Snerd ,
Last week you pointed out Obama got 38 million viewers and wondered how many McCain would get. Well it was 40 million.

OPRAH ... from spending several years in Jeremiah Wright's anti-American racist church, listening to sermons like "God Damn America", and giving life time achievement awards to the likes of Louis Farrakhan ... to her newest opportunistic religious beliefs ... who could possibly take Oprah seriously? This woman's ego is soooo big, being a billionaire celebrity isn't enough, she has to start her own religion ... not to mention all the additional money she is going to make selling all those book, tapes, CD's, etc. to her poor followers. Oprah's new power hungry ambitions include efforts to replace traditional America with Obama ... and access to a President she puts into office ... to her efforts at replacing Christianity with a new religion she controls. I think it's time for America to deny Oprah access to our television sets.

In the words of Wright...I say "No, no no to Oprah and her advertisers!"
I guess Oprah knows how to use a pistol just like Palin...'cause she sure did shoot herself in the food and the Democratic party right in the bottom.
I say, turn her show off! Avoid buying any products advertised on the show.
Here are some known to advertise: Dove, Lowes, Chase, Frontline, Murad, Playtex and Bali. She plays us for fools, is obviously biased, is self centered and arrogant. Don't drink the Kool Aid she serves.

I once had a professor who used Oprah as one of the best examples of counseling techniques. At the time, I agreed with him because she always seemed to get right to the heart in interviews with her guests. He was a decent fellow and I'm glad he didn't live to find out what a sham she turned out to be. I turned her off years ago.

Palin is not allowed to be questioned by the press for at least 2 weeks while she gets tutored on what to think and say.

Another clear sign St. Sarah isn't ready for prime time, wouldn't you say?

Difference between Oprah and Obama's experience at Jeremiah Wright's church is that Oprah left.

She has better judgment than Obama.

September 6, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAmy Proctor

I don't think anyone in their right mind would suggest Palin isn't ready for prime time, but if you use your assertion as proof (any links by the way grumpy to back up that she isn' t allowe to meet with press?), how do you explain that Obama has been afraid to debate with McCain?

That sounds like not ready for prime time.

Steph, long before Oprah started turing to Cameron Diaz as an enviromentalist and political expert, I stopped watching, too. I think Obama is going to be the last straw for many women.

September 6, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAmy Proctor

Amy, I'd just as soon she didn't go on Oprah. I believe there are much better venues these days. Greta vanSusteran did an hour on her tonight. Don't normally watch much MSM but heard about that during the convention so figured it was worth a look. It was pretty interesting.

After the election, why would she want to go on Oprah, anyway? She'll be too busy as VP to worry about a has-been talk show host. Oprah's hedging her bets but I believe she'll hedge too far. Us magazine has upward of 10,000 cancellations since coming out with their hit piece. Oprah faces the same problem if this sort of smearing keeps up.

Obama took the high road and warned his campaign off smears but that doesn't stop Obama or his campaign sending memos to the MSM and other sources/groups which support his candidacy. He can't very well fire them, can he? He certainly hasn't disavowed DailyKos for the rumors they started. Some piece of work that guy is. A narcissistic, megalomaniacal putz.

But Obama was on BEFORE he ran for President. She is having no candidates on until after the election.

Amy,

Like I said, she's in sequestration.

cw, that's true, sort of. However, it's not because of his candidacy, it's because she endorsed him. Straightaway, she started catching flack for endorsing him over Hillary. She lost some viewers then and she's set to lose a few more. Obama has been campaigning since he was elected to the Senate. He said so, himself. although he didn't officially declare for some time after that. She's had him on her show since he started campaigning but not since she endorsed him.

I would feel sorry for her because she's both a woman and black, but she did it to herself. Entertainers should stay out of politics if they know what's good for their own careers. Look at how many of them have taken a stand against or for certain politicians and have suffered for it. It's not about what they choose to believe or for whom they choose to vote. It's about not telling other people what to do by virtue of your celebrity status. Besides, she has billions already with which to console herself. I'm sure she can find another career to replace the one she tanked.

dear grumpy,
all of us should avoid the bs liberal media. these were the same biased piranhas who went after her harder in one week than they did in 8 mos vs that devoted husband jon edwards. she has de nada to gain from talking with the likes of keith oberman, campbell brown, james carville et al. she's obviously a quick study and so i prefer her spending the time boning up so she can kick biden's ass in their debate. as for O, her true stripes finally come thru. i feel sad for all the duped
followers -- all that time/money to a hypocritical bigot!

cw, I know, convenient, eh, that Oprah didn't have Obama on after he announced his candidacy in Feb 2007. However, in 2006 she urged him on her show to run for president, asked if he was, etc. She also attended the DNC. EVeryone knows where she stands.
