Musharraf on Afghanistan: 'U.S. Troop Withdrawal Would Be Disastrous'

Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf told the Des Moines Register that a U.S. pullout from Afghanistan would be “disastrous”.

And he’s not the only one saying it.

You do know that the BBC is taxpayer funded (a bit like the UK health care system. Saved my life more than once. No joke). Surely a hotbed of socialism. Do you feel comfortable linking to it?

And where did the video of the republicans cheering on learning that America would not host the Olympics on the 'Obamas Fail to Make Chicago Next Olympic Venue' go? I really liked that!

Best, Sean.

Everything Obama touches is "disastrous"...

A failure in Afghanistan would be a massive victory for Wahabbist Islamic extremism - and engender boldness to attack Israel and the West more vehemently. Pakistan may fall. That may trigger a war with India. No country will ever trust the US again - leaving us exposed across a dangerous globe without support from our allies who are already reeling from threats to prosecute American intelligence operatives. Why should they share intelligence with us at their own peril? Why should they honor treaties and alliances seeing we quit when the pressure mounts? Why not attack Israel and bring on WW III seeing America has lost its once iron resolve and righteous commitment?

Obama's waffling on Afghanistan is costing American, allied and Afghan lives. This is not the Illinois State Senate (all due respect to the Illinois State Senate); this is the REAL world, which is a big, bad, dangerous place for an inexperienced law professor and community organizer with zero chief executive experience.

Obviously a US withdrawal would be disastrous to the cabal that runs Pakistan. They are generally despised, can't even control their own territory, and their economy...

The US is funneling billions into and through Pakistan to support our attempted occupation of Afghanistan and if that spigot stopped pumping cash, these guys might have to go look for the withdrawal slips for the Swiss bank accounts. Instead of worrying about what a washed-up military dictator thinks of our Afghan war, why not ask some Afghans.

Not sure I agree that it would be a disaster. I think that not adding the troops we need is a possible disaster, and that is why I think it needs to be an all or nothing effort. This waffling shows zero leadership. Barry needs to make a decision and stick with it.

That last sentence I agree with wholeheartedly.
