Barney Frank Present With Gay Partner When Arrested for Pot Possession in 2007
Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 12:54AM
It just doesn’t stop. On Democrat Congressman Barney Frank:
Rep. Barney Frank admitted Friday that he was sitting on the porch of his partner’s Maine home when police came to arrest his partner for marijuana possession.
Frank, responding to new reports that he was present during the Aug. 2007 arrest of James Ready, said in a statement he was unaware Ready had marijuana plants.
According to a police report obtained by MyFoxBoston, Maine police arrested and charged James Ready with marijuana possession, cultivation and use of drug paraphernalia. He pleaded guilty to civil possession and paid a fine. The remaining charges were dismissed last year.
Frank was not charged.
Frank is the author of a medical marijuana bill that would outlaw the prosecution of persons who use marijuana for medicinal purposes.
Is the Democratic leadership is a comedy of errors or a house of horrors?
Let’s not forget the time Barney Frank had an affair with a male prostitute, whom he paid to have sex with, and that subsequently the lover ran a prostitution ring out of Frank’s apartment.

How is this important? The man is Gay, I doubt that is a secret.
It might be more useful if you clarified his statements on banking and economics, as an MBA the things he says are still fuzzy. Then after one of his confusing monologues he accuses everyone else of being stupid for not getting what he is saying. I find this far more interesting.
another one of those damn liberal Jews huh Amy ? Doing drugs and having homosexual affairs. THE democrats most despised by the rightwing seem to be a high percentage of Jews don't they ? Schumer, Frank, Fienstein, Rahm Emanual, Harry Waxman Arlen Specter Bernie Sanders (well technically HE is a socialist) Al Franken. They all have one thing in common> No, not being gay or being around pot they are ALL Jews!! no wonder Ellie Wiesel who survived the right wing death camps of Nazi Germany is now so worried about the tea baggers

First of all, Barney Frank admits he's gay - unlike Larry Craig, Charlie Christ, etc.
Second, Barney Frank is going around the country telling everyone how Christian he is and how much he supports "family values" and is opposed to the "gay agenda". I would suggest you watch the recent HBO documentary "Outrage" to get a better perspective on Rep Frank and some of your right-wing heros who are in the closet.
Guys, guys...
Yes, it's a generally more light-hearted than a normal issue but it does speak to ethics and ethical behavior, conflicts of interest, and all that. Sanford was crucified for what he did and rightly so. So have some others been over the years. Limbaugh is still crucified for a prescription drug addiction from the 90s, that he finally admitted to, went through rehab for, and the whole nine yards.
If you're going to hold one side up to a set of standards, the other side must apply the same standards to themselves. Ask yourself if a Republican would have been treated so lightly in the same circumstances. No exceptions and no ethical waivers.
It's not so much about his being gay as it is about fighting to legalize something for which his paramour was arrested. There are gay conservatives, too.
August 2007. 2007. 2007? I can't seem to remember what year we're in now. I think it's 2009. Oh, wow. Look at that, it's almost 2010 too.
Earth to Adam: It took two years for Bawney Fwank to admit it.
The democratic party now is supporting a complete socialist agenda. Last time I looked, we had two parties with socialist in their title, one in germany and one in the soviet union. Jews seemed to have a tough time in both those countries. I also think it is interesting that polling in Israel is much higher in support of the republican party than the democrats under Obama.
Barney Frank should have resigned in disgrace years ago so there is no doubt that he will enjoy strong support in a party that has 50 million dead babies on their conscience. He and the others who controlled several key committies that should have been reigning in Freddie and Fannie and not pushing banks to make bad loans to those who could not afford them should be in jail for the billions of lost income on their watch. What is dope or the urge to play with those of the same sex when they are not held to account for killing infants or losing billions through their inept management. Yes sir, lets take care of them and give them healthcare to manage. Will it never stop or will America be lost to this bunch bent on its destruction..
Johnny,
Do you speak Fwankese? Maybe you can be an interpreter. John Ryan's assertion that people on the right are potential Nazi's is like asserting that our founding Fathers were Nazi's for opposing taxes and Government control of peoples lives. I like to think of the far left as potential Slave Master wannabes. Sure enough as they want to control our lives. John Ryan it's "tea partiers," calling people "teabaggers" is no different than calling Barney Frank a Brown dirt cowboy.
The people who go to the rallies and make fools of themselves call themselves teabaggers, they ride in big buses paid for by major corporations labeled "Tea Party" on the side. I have never hard of Rep. Frank calling himself a cowboy of any sort.
Mike, the far left doesn't want to control your life, they want to make it better. The right wants to control your life if you are gay or want an abortion, but most of the time they work to make your life more miserable.
Tell that to the people who will die for someone else's sense of entitlement. I dare you. When you see your neighbor carted off in hand cuffs because he can't afford Ms. Pelosi's $250,o00 fine or her mandates what will you do? Laugh? It's what I expect.
Don't ever tell me you care about anything except yourself when you support the Party of Death. From the Japanese Interment camps to the Civil Rights Movement to Now, that's what they are and always have been. They don't want to make your life better. They want power over it, even til death.
Funny I never heard the Tea Party folks call themselves "teabaggers." I know that is what Maxine Waters called them, and she did so with a smirk. She knew good and well what it meant. She might have well called them "cocksuckers."
The healthcare thing is all about control Charles. They are making us all slaves. Anyone can be gay or get an abortion now in this country. What they are doing is strictly out of George Orwell. If they wanted to give us "healthcare," they could have issued Medicare or Medicaid cards to the folks that wanted it and funded that. This is a lot more sinister.
Of course the word draconian comes to mind.
A lot of words come to mind.

Reagan nails it, bull's eye, hands down, with amazingly prophetic insight. Its like he wrote this message yesterday.
Oh my lord! America is getting Healthcare! What an "obama-ination" to freedom and the right to good health.
I think I overheard Jesus mentioning to the constitutionalists that medical care should only be afforded to those privileged in enough to afford it. If you don't got the dough, Uncle Sam and his insurers will send you his patented snake oil formula.
Really, Rex? I spoke to Jesus today and he's still not a socialist. Jesus is less concerned with people demanding free healthcare than he is their eternal destination.
We HAVE healthcare in the U.S. It's no secret we need reform, but to be fined $15,000 if you dont' have coverage? Yeah, that's treating the poor right!
Hey, how about jailing them. The poor need a place to stay, anyway.
I've been poor. I lived under the poverty level for a couple years and I had healthcare. It's called Medicaid. Then when we made above the poverty level, we'd to go those little Home Med clinics, inexpensive coverage for non-insured.
Barney Frank is still a joke!
Rex willingly obscures what is really going on here - and its not about health CARE which all Americans currently enjoy (as well as 12 million non-citizens), but Big Government takeover of our physical existence. Rex, you lie, you lie, you lie. All Americans have health care if not health insurance. And there are ample free market solutions to the uncovered health insurance situation that have nothing to do with socialism.
The Soviets sold communism on the back of universal health care, too. The USSR is a monument to the failure of godless statism anywhere, much more to the proud American People who defeated it.
Johnny,
The American health care system is ranked 37th in the world by the World Health Organization. Its no lie, or a liberal/socialist consipiracy. Perhaps there' sa little something wrong when the richest country in the world cannot produce better standards of Health care for all its citizens.
Johnny,
I hope you didn't fall off the deep end? Let me guess, you think the Americans defeated the USSR, when Reagan made the famous "tear down the wall...." speech did yah? That must've been the nail in the coffin to the USSR! lol
You guys are a funny bunch.
Who cares what the World Health Organization ranks the U.S.? That's like caring what the U.N . thinks of us.
Rex, are you an American?
I am not sure that "not caring" is a proper or valid argument to make against factual information. You'd have to prove that there's some sort of liberal/communist conspiracy in the WHO, that warranted its statistics to be skewed in some obscure way. Seems like, the great empire of America has its enemies in all corners of the globe, might as well add those WHO statisticians to the pile?
The 37th in the world ranking is mostly Bull Poopies. It's like me saying Bill Gates is poor because he does not give me his money, and in America there are bank failures.
Much of the following is from a 2007 Jon Stossel column:
The WHO judged a country's quality of health on life expectancy. But that's a lousy measure of a health-care system. Many things that cause premature death have nothing do with medical care. We have far more fatal transportation accidents than other countries. They also count in Combat Deaths, something not heard of in France for a while. That's not a health-care problem.
Similarly, our homicide rate is 10 times higher than in the U.K., eight times higher than in France, and five times greater than in Canada. Also keep in mind that they have about 79% less people than we do. So our death rate will be higher on all counts.
When you adjust for these "fatal injury" rates, U.S. life expectancy is actually higher than in nearly every other industrialized nation.
Diet and lack of exercise also bring down average life expectancy.
Another reason the U.S. didn't score high in the WHO rankings is that we are less socialistic than other nations. What has that got to do with the quality of health care? For the authors of the study, it's crucial. The WHO judged countries not on the absolute quality of health care, but on how "fairly" health care of any quality is "distributed." The problem here is obvious. By that criterion, a country with high-quality care overall but "unequal distribution" would rank below a country with lower quality care but equal distribution.
It's when this so-called "fairness," a highly subjective standard, is factored in that the U.S. scores go south.
The U.S. ranking is influenced heavily by the number of people — 45 million — without medical insurance. The government aggravates that problem by making insurance artificially expensive with, for example, mandates for coverage that many people would not choose and forbidding us to buy policies from companies in another state.
Even with these interventions, the 45 million figure is misleading. Thirty-seven percent of that group live in households making more than $50,000 a year, says the U.S. Census Bureau. Nineteen percent are in households making more than $75,000 a year; 20 percent are not citizens, and 33 percent are eligible for existing government programs but are not enrolled.
For all its problems, the U.S. ranks at the top for quality of care and innovation, including development of life-saving drugs. It "falters" only when the criterion is proximity to socialized medicine.
So Rex, maybe you are right...
Seems like, the great empire of America has its enemies in all corners of the globe, might as well add those WHO statisticians to the pile?
Thanks Buddy, I know your a Great American.
Mike,
Did you fall off the deep end also? You must be joking about combat deaths being counted as part of a study on mortality rates? Lets just say for your argument that this is true. Do you really think that 5000+ combat deaths is going to change the mortality rate study significantly? In any case, there are 143 pages on how some of these statistics are compiled. Its right here:
http://www.who.int/healthinfo/nationalburdenofdiseasemanual.pdf
On page 25, it explains how some of the mortality rates are calculated. Maybe you should ahve a look before you go on an empty headed rampage about the details behind these statistics.
Sorry Amy, but this ain't Fox news. They don't put this stuff into nice little, idiot-proof sound bites for us to consume. We actually have to do some work, and perhaps have a basic understanding of the mathematics and bio-statistics in order to have a thorough understanding.
Amy, Rex is from Canada, not that I care one way or the other. I know lots of Canadians and consider them friends.
What I don't understand is why some of them can't accept that most Americans don't want to be like them from North America to Asia. They have their culture and their beliefs and that's okay with everybody. We have our own unique blend and it's not okay.
It's not about criticizing how "they" do things or how their politics is set up. It's: are they happy with it? If so, fine. I just get real sick of the "everybody will love us if only we change to be more like them" meme. It's not going to happen no matter what the United States does. This country is the perpetual red-headed stepchild.
The meme is merely a way to manipulate us into working against our own interests and ultimately the interests of everyone else. If we fall, other countries will have to do for themselves more than they are now. They're already getting a taste of that as Obama disses our allies time after time.
Rex, I would not put faith in anything coming out of the United Nations, even if it seems like it is in your country's favor. They want something, usually money and power, and won't hesitate to manipulate and scheme and ego-fluff to get it.
Rex, After perviewing the report I am less convinced of it's accuracy. Actually I was joking about the combat death stuff, but not about anything else. The data from many of the other countries is not likely to be as accurate as the US, and in many cases we have no way of checking or knowing if the data from developing or less free countries is accurate. Since some of these countries are focused on corruption and propaganda the information we have from them into the models is not accurate. The report itself talks to this. Realistically being an American and having traveled the world and experienced healthcare on all levels I am convinced the US is in the top 10 if not the top 5 in the world. This report is so riddled with holes due to poor data that it should be mistaken as Swiss Cheese. MMM.....Cheese.........
I looked at the statistical methods and think that we should only look at first world countries and compare apples to apples:
In Britain, lack of access to modern technologies and medicines poses high risks for patients, especially in cases involving cancer and cardiovascular disease, Frogue says. Recently, the World Health Organization estimated that 25,000 British cancer patients have died unnecessarily.
Supporters of government-run health care claim that such a system is best for patients and doctors, but the evidence from Britain and Canada proves otherwise," Frogue says. "Access to treatment is far from guaranteed, care is rationed by government bureaucrats, the rich and well-connected get better care, fed-up doctors flee the system, and patients suffer. Government-run health care is a prescription for trouble."
Show me how this was a fair and accurate comparison. I can quote any study I would like with a faulty conclusion. It would not hold water very well either, this one gets touted way too often.
I quote WHO data compiled by multiple doctors, scientists and statisticians and you quote some random dude with an ax to grind on universal healthcare.
Seems like apples for apples doesn't it?
Who said that Britain and Canada are getting it right? I think you are confusing cause and effect here. There might many problems with the Canadian or British System but that doesn't necessarily indicate that the problem is the result of centralized coverage. For example, France's centralized healthcare system is apparently doing quite well.
StephC,
Contrary to popular belief, I don't get paid to have WHO statistics skewed in my country's favor, so it doesn't exactly interest me as much as it seems to interest you to have everyone pat America on the back for everything from great burgers, to being the world police and so on.
Also StephC,
I don't think other countries are really interested in the domestic affairs of America as much as America is interested in the domestic affairs of other countries.
Rex.....There is always room for improvement....but the folks dying in those systems don't seem all that random....Also no one can convince me that the Govt can do it better. I have been dealing with our VA for 11 years.
Then Obama's lack of interest in fostering good relations with our allies should suit you just fine. Which is fine by me.
Now, if we could get the U.N. out of our country and into somebody else's I would be just peachy. They want our money and our military might on demand but spend the rest of their time telling us how bad we are. I'm about sick of them.
StephC,
I am curious about your, almost neurotic obsession with the UN? I mean, you seem to mention the UN in some denigrating way in almost every blog entry that Amy Proctor displays! I didn't knwo they were responsible for all things, from USA bashing, to perhaps even causing floods, hurricanes and thunderstorms....
When, you mention "they" when referring to the UN, who do you mean? I am assuming you mean "all other member countries minus the USA"?
In any case, I am not sure where you have gathered this notion that everyone wants American military might and money, and that anything and everything "UN" is synonomous with the devil, but this seems to be an idea that has been lifted right out of the Fox Entertainment network repertoire.
Since you are an ardent critic of the UN, I would be curious to find out what sort of financial and military contributions are being made by its biggest victim, the UNited States?
See? This is what you stupid libs do. Now, I'm "neurotically obsessed" because I think the United Nations is a worthless entity. And now that it came up in this post and I said my piece I mention them in "almost every post".
I'm not the one who first mentioned the WHO which is an arm of the U.N. I have a right to my opinion. It's a useless body that plays politics pitting countries against each other on the stupidest issues while showing an utter lack of resolve on serious ones.
On top of that they suck money and life out of countries to continue their useless existence, and just like liberals they talk about caring while they do absolutely nothing to better the condition of those they purport to help.
I think that's reason enough to want to get rid of them without being "neurotically obsessed."
And, yes, I called you stupid because I think you are. You don't seem to have a problem calling names so I figure you won't mind being called stupid.
Oh, and, Rex...
You might not care about our money and might individually but your government does. Who would protect you when your navy can't sail far beyond its own shores? Do you think that comes cheap? Not that I care because it is Canada and you're not representative of the whole country, just the stupid part.
How much of army does France have? Germany? Italy? and more? Who would aid them if they were attacked?
If you don't want it, just say so. I'm sure Obama would oblige because he hates the military anyway. Such a sentiment from our allies would give him plenty of reason to reduce it's size to something comparable of other nations.
Barney Frank seems like a total boob! I'm always fascinated by congressmen who get reelected repeatedly when they have so many apparent flaws. I really don't know much about his district or how he keeps winning, but it just goes to show that once your in congress and can hold your seat a few times its almost like having tenure.
Timo,
It's called Gerrymandering. You create a district in such away that no one can get rid of you, and then you only help those people. Barney has a job for life. The longer your congressperson is in power the more power they have and the more you get.
Please oh please move to NZ and stay there you uneducated dolt.
