George Tiller Previously Excommunicated from Lutheran Church Over Abortion

George Tiller, the Kansas late term abortionist who was shot in his church a week and 1/2 ago, was previously excommunicated from another Lutheran sect to which he belonged over his refusal to repent and stop performing abortions.

The Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, an orthodox sect that adheres to historic, traditional Christianity, rarely excommunicates but Tiller’s case was so extreme that that’s exactly what they did.

At the time of his murder, Tiller was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, ELCA, in Wichita, Kansas.  The ELCA is a liberal sect of Lutheranism which condones abortion, sex outside of marriage and gay rights.

Meanwhile, the Obama Administration is launching a probe into the Tiller killing.  No word on any probe on the Muslim convert who killed a US soldier at a recruiting office in Arkansas last week.

evidence is out there that FBI and/or other agencies knew about the threat to Tiller and did nothing to stop it this the need for the probe and as far as I know no such evidence exists in the recruit shooting case so no probe.

Apparently the threat was too vague for the FBI to act on.

that is what the probe will look into

Roeder told the AP that "I know there are many other similar events planned around the country as long as abortion remains legal". So here we have a domestic terrorist who clearly knows about more violence that may soon occur. How come Amy and the rest of the far-right are calling for him to be waterboarded so he will confess what he knows before something happens? Seems torture is fine with the right-wing when the victim is a Muslim, but when he's a far-right Christian kook it's different?

It has to do with this little thing called American citizenship. No one is waterboarding Abdulhakim Muhammad, for the same reason.

You wanna read something really bad? Apparently, a Philadelphia "clinic" decided to honor Tiller in its own way... by offering free abortions.

Sick.

I think you might benefit from different perspective.

"Two men, one Christian and the other Muslim, commit murder just one day apart in the United States. Both appear to have been motivated by their religious beliefs. The Christian murderer is Scott Roeder and his victim is Dr. George Tiller, a physician from Wichita, KS who performed late term abortions. The Muslim murderer is Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad and his victims are Pvt. William Long and Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula who were new U.S. Army recruiters.

These two murder cases expose the media’s and our legal system’s bias against Muslims. Both crimes seem to fit the definition of terrorism motivated by religious extremism. The media and the legal system, however, are treating these alleged murderers and their crimes very differently.

The Muslim murder suspect, Mr. Muhammad, is charged with terrorism along with first degree murder. Mr. Muhammad’s faith has been front and center from the very earliest news reports. The American-Muslim community’s almost immediate repudiation of Mr. Muhammad’s murder was and still is largely ignored.

On the other hand, the Christian murder suspect, Mr. Roeder, is not being charged with terrorism. His faith has not been the focus of news reports even though there seems to be ample evidence to suggest that Mr. Roeder espouses extreme, right-wing Christian beliefs. And lastly, the media is giving anti-abortion groups ample opportunity to distance themselves from the murderous actions of one of their own."

Charles,
Please share your information about Roeder's religion, church, paster and fellow congregants. Or is that all made up?

Pro-life activists don't need an "opportunity" to speak out. It's called "freedom of speech ."

===================================

Amy, the difference in aproach to the killings is that the Muslim convert who killed that soldier acted on his own, for religous and anti-war reasons. The killer of Dr. Tiller had not only the probable help of Anti-Abortionists (NOT to be confused with Pro-Lifers who are Pro LIFE) and the groups they belong to in hunting down Dr. Tiller, but also had the long-term vocal support of Right-Wing haters such as O'Reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh, Savage, etc, etc.

Bin Laden sure does appreciate the help you all are given him and his cause.
