Once our military stabilizes the Islamist national constitution, it should be interesting how cracking the cement and foundation for their religion will happen.

In a worldly sense, Islamists are retarded. They are incapable of creating and understanding, much less appreciating movies such as Shane, The Last Samurai, or Come and See. A dose of worldly reality is exactly what all those people in Islamic lands need to slap them out of their paralyzing Parkinson-like diseased mentality and view of the world. Islam is someday going the way of the dinosaurs, to be categorized with the Mayan and Incan religions in future history books.

Sanchez and that crowd haven't implemented an ideological warfront initiating the inevitable, ... yet. Patience everyone. We must all learn to be patient while things get set up ...

meatbrain comments on Obama Responds To Bush's Comment that Wasn't About Him

I've posted the answer to your question, Amy -- and for doing so, you threaten to ban me.

What, exactly, are you so afraid of?

Amy Proctor comments on Obama Responds To Bush's Comment that Wasn't About Him

I guess meatbrain wants to be banned.

airforcewife, right on the money. It points to an egomaniacal attitude that is usually reserved for people like Hillary or Al Gore. Jimmy Carter would be the obvious person to come to mind, but in reality Bush was talking to Israel, not a domestic audience as Obama asserted, because if any country has struggled with how to deal with terrorism it is Israel. Netanyhu resigned from the Israeli cabinet a few years ago because Sharon was too appeasing. There is no need to read Obama into the comments by the President.

But if the shoe fits, so be it.

airforcewife comments on Obama Responds To Bush's Comment that Wasn't About Him

It's interesting that the Obama campaign thought this applied to him, when my first thought went to Jimmy Carter and his recently completed Hug a Terrorist World Tour.

Or that the reference wasn't merited when President Bush was speaking to the people of a country that were created out of the ashes (figuratively and metaphorically) that resulted from the appeasement of the thirties and is threatened by appeasement on the world stage today.

I think they were looking for a fight to prove something. You can be a good soldier and look at porn, but I don't respect that soldier. I might respect his service and sacrifice, but not his character. That's my prerogative.

I have seen pornography in the military tear families apart, lead couples to divorce, result in demotions and unprofessionalism on the job.

70% of officers are married.
82% of Warrant officers are married.
51% of enlisted soldiers are married.

The Army doesn't revolve around the single soldier anymore. Families are essential to the mission.

The real issue is this: is there a necessity to sell porn on post? The answer is obviously no. Here's a suggestion for all the guys in the military who need their porn and can't take their butts off post to buy it: use the internet. You don't even have to be embarrassed by a cashier that way. Buy a subscription and have it mailed to you.

I talked to the manager of my local Shoppette and she gave me a print out of how many copies their magazines are sold, including Penthouse and Playboy. The good news is the figures are marginal. If I were a male soldier, I would be humilitated if one of my buddies or co-workers saw me buying a copy because obviously these guys 1) have to pay for sex and 2) they can't get a real date.

My opinion doesn't restrict anyone from buying porn. Knock yourselves out. But I have a right as an Army wife to oppose the sale of indecent materials on my post.

I'm a wine drinker but if alcohol sales were banned on post, I'd GO OFF POST and buy it. Big deal! I've never seen so many whiney men in my life complain like babies who need their pacifiers. Pathetic.

Comments on this thread will now be closed.

Indigo Red comments on Does PTSD Warrant a Purple Heart?

I have thought about this question and listened to Soldiers and Marines tell their PTSD stories. I believe it is a real wound deserving of due recognition, however, those with PTSD would rather not be awarded a medal. I understand that. Their injury is of a more personal nature that many would prefer not advertising. Being a cripple myself and having gone throgh awkward moments, I fully appreciate their reticence.

For me though, the arguement turned on another arguement. Years ago, I had a roommate who said he was a VietNam War Veteran. Well, he wasn't exactly. He was a Navy meterologist at Point Mugu, California. He was at most a VietNam ERA Veteran. His claim lent a status he did not have and it cheapened those men and women who did serve in country.

My father was a Navy Vet of the WWII Pacific Theater, saw combat, killed men who were trrying to kill him. His younger brother served in the Army guarding a base in Texas. The family treated the brother as the hero for fifty years after the war until Dad began attending reunions and introducng his crewmates to the his family.

The Purple Heart has a special place for the wounded. It delineates those whose lives were directly and immediately at risk. Combat and the possibility of taking a human life and being killed is perhaps the most diffficult thing a person can do. Those who are wounded performing that horrible task should not have the award lessened by another who has reached their own stress level as harrowing as that may have been.

Purple Hearts are for the physically wounded only.

Thank you for the question, Amy. It was not an easy one.

meatbrain comments on Obama Responds To Bush's Comment that Wasn't About Him

How could anyone argue with logic like that?

Didn't have the guts to quote the bit about the Bush administration negotiating with states that support terrorism, didja, Johnny?

Johnny comments on Obama Responds To Bush's Comment that Wasn't About Him

Here's what meatbrain linked to above:

The morons of the right forget who the Appeaser-In-Chief really is
Friday, May 16th, 2008 in Political Animals

Yes, assclowns, I’m talking to you: Kit Lange, “TA”, Susan Duclos, Jim Hoft, Mike and Curt, and all you other ignorant wingnuts… there’s not a one of you who knows or understands history.

Gee.
